Pike shrugged, the same apologetic look flashing across his face for a second. "Yeah, okay, I'm protective. Sue me." He knew there was a fine line between being protective and caveman, but to be honest, he didn't care too much. Better than not caring at all, in his book. Although it was true, Faith would probably be less than pleased if he just let her body walk off. "I get that. Still don't feel right about it, though." He shrugged. "Sorry."
When she asked if he was ready, he nodded. There wasn't much in the motel room that he needed. Ordinarily he'd have grabbed at least one weapon, but he still had the flask of holy water in his pants pocket, and he was going to be walking with a Kryptonian. Safe to say he wasn't worried about grabbing his revolver or blades right now. He reached out, opened the door, then nodded and gestured for her to go first. It was kind of habit with Faith, and even though he knew Kara wasn't her, habits were hard to break. Besides, there wasn't anything wrong with being chivalrous from time to time. "Ideas. Well, off the top of my head, I've got three. Magic. Back home, there were some spells I've heard of - powerful, from what I've heard - that could do this. Could also be a powerful demon, but I don't know a whole lot about the demons here beyond the basics."
There was also another possibility, but it was one he wasn't really thrilled to consider. "You also have to consider the fact that two of ours just shanked an angel." He glanced over at her, stuffing his hands into the pockets of his jeans. "We don't really know much about what the other angels think of us. If a lot of them are like the one that got shanked, this could be part of some freaky revenge scheme." Of course, it could be any number of other things that didn't he wasn't aware of. He just didn't have enough information yet, which was something he planned on remedying soon.
