He'd really been intending to respond to her. He'd even had some words on the tip of his tongue. But then she was right there in his face, faster than any Slayer or demon could move. Pike didn't jump out of his skin, but only because he was pretty sure he was going to get hit if he so much as twitched. He took a slow, deep breath and kept his hands where they could be seen, palms open and facing her so that whoever this was could see he was not going to be trying any tricks.
It wasn't like he could do anything fast enough to catch somebody that fast off guard.
"Okay. Uh. Clearly you're not Faith. And not a demon, so by the way I apologize for thinking about splashing you with holy water." He swallowed hard, knowing full well that somebody that moved that fast could snap his neck and be in the next state before his body even hit the ground. "I have no clue what's going on." He made absolutely no attempt to look away or hide his gaze from her. He was a very good liar, but he wasn't trying to lie this time. "I have no idea how whatever it is that's going on here happened. I do know you're not Faith, but I definitely don't know who you are."
That speed did leave him with two guesses. He knew Clark could move that fast. So could other Kryptonians, and he knew Clark wasn't the only one here. He was fervently hoping that this was Kara, because if it was not, he wasn't entirely sure he'd be able to look Clark in the eye for awhile.
He was also direly concerned about Faith. If this was who he was hoping it was, then at least she was okay, but still. He loved her, worry kind of came right along with that.
