Hell gods, Drusilla, evil demons trying to move their boss out of Hell and onto Earth. To a degree, it made the place seem kind of like home. Unfortunately not in a very endearing way. Even the local law enforcement seemed oblivious to the craziness going on in town. As Vi waited in line behind two officers at one of the coffee shops, she'd listened to them discuss the influx of crazy people, the weird things happening around town.

One thing in particular caught her attention. There had been calls from the bad part of town four nights in a row, two guys lurking around in the shadows. They could have been run of the mill creeps but something about the way they'd talked about it didn't settle right with Vi. It at least was something to check out.

After heading back to the complex, she'd tracked down Kendra. Buffy had enough on her hands without adding in something that could be nothing and Faith was with Pike. It was also a good excuse to get to know Kendra.

Vi buttoned up her coat as a cool fall breeze kicked up around them, swirling leaves around their feet. "Do you think the supernatural world here observes the 'no trouble on Halloween' rule too?"

Kendra had been polishing a weapon when Vi came up to her with information she had found about possibly vampires. Kendra hadn't hesitated in excepting. At least not that the other woman could see. For the most part, the currently youngest slayer, had a very good hold on her emotions which is why none of her unease had shown. And her excitement. She still wasn't used to slaying with other people. For most of her life, especially since she was Called, any dealings with the supernatural were where she had to defeat them on her own. Support being filled by Mr. Zabuto. At a distance. It wasn't until Buffy had her friends had she learned what it was to work in a constructive pair or team. Furthermore, since her arrival, when she wasn't patrolling alone she'd always had Buffy. There was a possibility that Kendra had let herself become spoilt to that, accostomed to the older Slayer's presence because it was the closest thing to feeling completely comfortable and at ease that she let herself have. Which was dangerous. Because attachments and relying on anyone except for herself and her watcher was bad. Becoming too at ease with anything that could change (which was everything) was also bad.

Sure it was a different rule and sure maybe there was a middle ground between relying too much on Buffy's presence to relying on no one but herself; however, Kendra wasn't quite sure how to get there. She was, at sixteen, too set in her ways. Which was going at it on her own.

Nevertheless, despite all of this she was excited. Another Slayer. Her mind was fascinated over the prospect, truly looking forward to it. While her body, her senses were pumped for it. Like panther who might have found a suitable hunting partner. The anticipation was almost too sweet, too good. The vampires wouldn't know what hit them.

They had been mostly silent, Kendra almost startled at Vi's voice. Turning to look at the other slayer, she responded, "I do not believe that they do. The demons here do not seem to have many of the same cares and concerns that demons from our world have." Even though demons tended to be just demons for her, she knew that they came in varied interests and had various goals. The demons here seemed to have only one. "I doubt that it would matter to Lilith whether Halloween was insulting to anyone's sensibilities, so long as it brought her closer to her master."

Vi made a face. It was the answer she would have given to the question but she was still disappointed. Halloween was supposed to be the Slayer's holiday. The night where very few things went bump in the night if they were smart. Here, for all they knew, Lilith could be gearing up to throw a big bloody massacre with Drusilla as her co-host. Which, she hoped, never became a reality.

"Yeah. We could always hope that it's a quiet night," she said, smiling slightly. "That it's a universal demon law to hate Halloween." Vi blew out a breath. "Yeah, that's definitely wishful thinking." Still, it couldn't hurt to ask the Winchesters later, since they were native to the place.

"The officers that were talking at the coffee shop today said that there were two of them lurking around. I guess when one woman called in, she said there was something unnatural about them but she couldn't put a finger on what. So we might be looking at new playmates of Drusilla's, demons, or regular old creepers. I'm kind of hoping for option one."

Kendra nodded slightly. She didn't mind not getting a day off. Especially after the lack of activity that she'd found herself with when she'd just arrived. She was enjoying actually having something to patrol for and then slay far too much to take any kind of break. It was almost a kid who had recieved their dream came and refused to put it down for fear of it being just that. A dream.

As they walked, she turned to look at Vi as she spoke for a moment, before looking ahead of her, a slight smile curving her lips. She really hoped that they were vampires. If it was demons, she would be very pissed off. More so if it was a pair of drunk humans. Though at least with the second, she would be able to get some of the adrenaline out. She turned to look at Vi again, her smile wider, with a slight tentative quality to it. Anticipation, with a dash of friendliness. Perfected best by awkward sixteen year old slayers. "I am as well. Tonight has been rather slow and I am thinking that if we do find two there, there might also be a nest nearby." That was very hopeful thinking but despite the the rapid growth of vampires in the area, tonight had indeed been rather slow. It wouldn't be too, too much of a stretch that the two vampires could lead to something more.

That was a smile Vi recognized. One she was almost certain was on her face. A few years ago, the idea of going out to hunt down and slay vampires wouldn't have just seemed crazy, but the idea that it might be real and doing it willingly would have terrified her. Now she was practically leaping at the chance, both her and Kendra hoping they would get a chance to do some dust dancing tonight.

Dust dancing. Maybe that was a term to keep.

"A nest would be like Christmas," she agreed, grinning. When she'd found out that vampires were rare in the area, she was embarrassed to find that she was almost disappointed. Then again, it was like being told that your job was being cut back. But now they had something to check out and hopefully a few evils to put an end to. She'd even settle for a demon or two to try out that exorcism she'd learned from Andrew on. "Hopefully our creeptastic friends show up tonight."

Kendra found herself grinning in return. Before it had felt as if Buffy was the only person in the world who might be able to even come close to understand what it might feel like. As lacking in social connections as Kendra was she understood that a nest of vampires wouldn't be viewed as something great for most people. More of a nightmare then a very special and early Christmas present. However, Slayers were far from most people and while before it had just been Buffy. It was -- rather .. nice to have that connection with someone else. On a personal level, rather than just the level of predator to predator. Another freak.

"If one nest would be like Christmas, what would two be like?" It was cautious, but the teasing to Kendra's question was obvious. "I expect that they will." Kendra said, as she looked out in the dark. "The chances are high that we will at least find something to slay tonight with the amount of vampires Drusilla is siring." There was a slight bitter taste in her mouth and her tone. It was great. On the one hand. That they had something to slay. But on the other, it meant that Drusilla was still out there.

Leading the NYC Slayer cell, Vi was around other Slayers constantly, but arriving here in Lawrence and hanging out with Buffy and Kendra had been refreshing. They were the originals, along with Faith, who had stood against the darkness when there had only been one, or two. Vi looked up to them now that she fully appreciated what it meant to be a Slayer and the life they lead. So this, this was fun.

"Like having your birthday the day after Christmas," she said, waving her hands in the air. "Like double the presents, except they have fangs instead of bows."

She had a good point. With the siring that Drusilla had been doing, it was looking more likely that whatever they faced tonight was going to be blood thirsty. "It'd be nice to cut their numbers down a little. Vampires are supposed to be rare around here. They're messing with the status quo and that's rude, considering this isn't their world." She reached up to tuck some hair behind her ear, then pointed.

"I think we're getting close. When I was looking at maps, I'm almost certain that street was nearby."

Kendra had never celebrated her birthday; neither she nor Mister Zabuto had seen the point of it. It was just another day in the year, just another day to train. However, she knew the sentiment behind it well enough to smile at Vi's words. "I wouldn't mind my presents having fangs instead of bows." She said off-handedly. The only presents she tended to get was being allowed to patrol on her own back home or a new crossbow. Which were more for practicality purposes than actual presents. Nevertheless, Kendra receieved them the same way one might a new cashmere sweater. Okay. With MUCH less squealing but with no less excitement.

"It would be nice." Kendra said, but she wondered if it was just wishful thinking. "Hopefully we can have some effect." She said, trying for optimistic, but also sincere. "Our vampires breed like cockroaches." It was just a statement of fact. One accompanied with a slight frown. Not to mention the people around here didn't have the habits of a town accoustomed to vampires. No matter how ignorant a town would claim to be, there were still precautions both conscious and unconscious. This city didn't have that and that would make things difficult for anyone slayer. Except ... "However, with four of us here, we should be able to make a strong difference."

Kendra straightened a bit more when Vi said they were getting close. Her stake at the ready and her eyes peeled. They walked another block with nothing until Kendra spotted something, curbing the need to go off and strike on her own, she glanced at Vi for a moment, tilting her head in direction of the something suspicous she had just spotted. "Over there."

Vi had to laugh at that. "Neither would I. New toys that are just begging to be played with." She could only imagine the reactions of people to overhearing the conversation the two of them were having, the expressions most likely hilarious. "Although bows on the fangs would be kind of funny," she added, motioning to the top of her head. "A big pink one. Although that would probably be the first sign of a very mentally unstable vamp." Or one just looking to screw around with them.

"That is an excellent comparison for them. Vampires and cockroaches. Annoying, hard to kill, and possibly two of the very few things that could survive nuclear warfare." Possibly. The vampire would be crispy fried but not dead. "We will. Between the four of us, we'll be making dust clouds, setting the balance right again. Then there's the new stuff. We'll get the hang of that too."

She slid the stake from her coat sleeve where it had been previously tucked, falling quiet as they began the sweep of the area, cautious. Hesitating when Kendra turned to her, she followed the head tilt. Sure enough, there was something there. Movement, hard to make out in the darkness. "I think we might have found them," she said quietly, gripping the stake tighter. "Or something," she amended. "Move in on two sides?"

Kendra found herself grinning widely at Vi's words. Letting out a sound that was a cross between an amused snort and a giggle, as she pictured a big shiny bow smack dab on the middle of a vampire's forehead. Of all the ridiculous sights. "Probably. Unless .." She started, and then stopped. The idea was too silly. This was becoming a bit too silly. Patrolling should be a serious process. Kendra hesitated for a moment, before continuing. "Unless one of us put it there. I can just imagine Buffy's reaction if we gave her a vampire with bows for Christmas." Maybe the joke was too much? Though Kendra had to admit, it'd be a funny reaction.

Kendra pushed down the frown and the irritation at the mention of the new stuff. It was still an annoyance that civilians, who okay fine weren't really civilians, were telling her that she was too young. However, after the whining of a few of the other teenagers, she really couldn't blame them. Besides, Buffy had promised to teach her. So she was certain she would be getting the hang of it all soon enough.

Nodding sharply at Vi's question. "I'll go to the left."

It was like a snort and giggle chain reaction. The laugh from Kendra got Vi going again, who managed to keep her laughter quiet. Not that they necessarily needed to. The vampires spawned here probably didn't have a clue what a Slayer was and probably thought they were a couple of giggly girls, either to ignore or try and munch on. They'd be in for a surprise if it was the latter. "That's almost too tempting. We could chain it up and present it to her. 'Here you go, Buffy. Your very own live punching bag.'"

As soon as the hunt was on, Vi grew quiet. With a nod to Kendra, she took the right, heading for the old building standing in front of them. Her arms were loosely crossed across her stomach, the stake tucked between her arm and her side, kept out of sight. If anything was lurking nearby, she didn't want to give it any kind of a warning.

With one last glance back Kendra's way, she started making her way towards the building where they'd seen whatever it was they had seen. She couldn't see any movement now but Slayer sense told her something was around. Creeping up to the window, she tried to use her sleeve to clean the years of grime off the glass, mostly failing. Drawing in a deep breath, she moved away again, listening for any sign that something might be inside as she searched for the door in.
