"Lawmen" she said simply. "Then I was right and wielding my sword is indeed illegal here" she confirmed, putting it back on her belt. "I do apologise. I didn't know. I shall be more attentive for as long as I remain here"
The officers looked more conflicted than anything else, on the one hand the crazy woman had put her sword away and was talking about leaving town on the other hand, sword. Not to mention the boy that was now claiming to be able to help her, get her home. It was quite a dilemma for them. Kahlan had watched the thought process and very seriously considered confessing them. It might do some good. Or make things worse. She wasn't sure.
"Yes..." she finally said. "Home is of course the best idea. I'll go home with my...friend here". She could confess him if he were against her. But she didn't think he would. He'd said something about being brought here. That had to mean she'd get an explaination from him. He might know what was going on and how she might get back to Richard and the others.
"Really, again...very sorry for the misunderstanding. Won't happen again" she said and pulled the boy along with her out of the officers way before they registered what had just happened and used those guns.
