WHO: Sam & Ruby. WHAT: It was only a matter of time. WHEN: Evening. WHERE: Hotel room; not too far from Bobby's. RATING: You put these two alone in a hotel room together? High.
Sam didn't know how it had happened. One second he was determined to wait for the right moment, the next he was practically doing all that he could to keep himself from begging Ruby to come out with him as soon as possible. All it had taken was a brief conversation about chains and Sam was practically ready to take her right in the middle of the salvage yard. That wouldn't have been very pretty, however, so he told Ruby to meet him at a hotel that he knew of, packed up a change of clothes for the night, and took off. He knew that the message that he had left everyone on the boards wasn't exactly as convincing as it should have been, but Sam didn't care. He and Ruby hadn't been together in a long while. Not like this. It was unfortunate that he was giving in right now, when they were in the middle of training the others, but there wasn't much that could be done about it. If Sam didn't give in, he'd be distracted the entire time. Him training other people with a distracted mind wouldn't have done anyone any good. He'd teach them wrong. They'd learn nothing. He'd be wasting their time and no one really wanted that, now did they? It was better that he took off for a while. He could come back with a fresh mind and, without a doubt, in a lighter mood - it'd be a more effective way for him to train them, really. They'd appreciate the lack of a terrible mood on his part, he was sure.
So maybe, in a way, this was the right moment. It certainly wasn't expected or perfectly timed, but it felt right. Sam was excited about it. In fact, it was the first time he had been this excited in a good while. He was kind of nervous, too, which was a bit of a shock since it was Ruby. Not some random chick that he didn't know, but Ruby. He'd had sex with Ruby plenty of times. What was the big deal about it now? Could it have been because of the fact that he felt like, in a way, he was getting to know her all over again? This time Sam was going to be looking into the eyes of someone that he knew had been working against him. Surprisingly enough, Sam was okay with that. Because it wasn't just someone. It was Ruby.
Once he booked their room for the night, Sam dropped his bag (filled with clothes, mostly) onto a chair, kicked his shoes off, and shrugged his jacket away. Adjusting the watch on his wrist, Sam walked over to the mini-bar and pulled up a bottle of red wine. It was a nice hotel. The room in itself was nice, actually. Better than what they usually went for. The place had a friggin' mini-bar, for fucks sake. Compared to the crappy motels he usually aimed for - dusty sheets, wallpaper peeling, mice skittering through the floorboards - this was pretty fancy. It was perfect for the occasion. Or maybe he was trying too hard. Rolling his sleeves up, Sam poured two glasses of wine and took up his own. He drank about half of it down before he heard someone at the door. Ditching the wine, Sam eagerly moved forward. He was definitely excited to see Ruby. It didn't matter that they had been staying at the same place for a few weeks now. They were here. Alone. And they were finally getting a shot at doing what they had both been wanting to. At least, he was sure that they both had wanted to. Ruby had said she wanted to.
