"Ready to go," he answered with a slight smile. "You know, Doc, we could postpone this if you want. I know the last couple of days have been..." He shrugged, more for a lack of description than shrugging it off. Because it sure as hell wasn't one of those times. Children had died and she was giving care to the only survivor. He'd seen people grieve before. It wasn't easy, for the griever or the person consoling the one grieving.
It also occurred to him to offer to cook at his place but he wasn't sure he had anything that would make a halfway decent meal for two. He needed to take a trip to the grocery store for a few supplies but with the insanity as of late, it had been pushed aside.
