Your friendly neighborhood Xander-shaped friend. ([info]xander_shaped) wrote in [info]wariscoming,
Xander bit back his amusement at the expected silence on Kendra's part. The poor girl really did need to learn how to get a grip on herself whenever she was around a guy. Sure, he could see why she'd have trouble - after all, he was him (okay, okay, that mental statement only came across in jest) - but eventually the two of them were gonna have to start having conversations. You know, fluent conversations. The kind that didn't end with her stuttering or him deciding to abruptly find something else to distract himself with out of pity on her part. Of course, the lack of discussion from Kendra might well have been because of something else entirely. Maybe she was lost in thought; maybe she was trying to get herself into the groove of the hunt. Whatever it was, he still found that the silence that hung in the air wasn't all that unusual. Not for her. So he focused on the other women in the group, feeling somewhat more comfortable knowing that he was wedged in between three different Slayers. Drusilla was tough, but could she really take all four of them on at once?

"Blood-bath tea parties, huh?" Xander focused on the ground that they tread upon, wincing slightly. "What happened to the good old days when it was just dump a body here, kill a person there, climb outta the grave, do something stupid, badabing - badaboom, you're dust?" He shook his head, almost pitifully. Those were the good old days. Now they had two - well, three, he supposed - ultimate baddies on their asses at once and it was, he had to admit, a little overwhelming. But that was why they were out here, wasn't it? They were dealing. It was what they did. The old Scooby gang. Plus...Vi. And Kendra. Minus most of the Scoobs. Okay, so maybe it wasn't the old Scooby gang. It was just...gang. Of new and old Scoobs. That didn't sound as catchy, did it?

"I don't want them getting within ten miles of each other, Buff," Xander admitted, shaking his head in annoyance, "the last thing we need is for those two to become best pals. We've already got it bad enough as is."
