An orphanage. Even though she had only seen the details in print, her imagination dragged her unwillingly into mental images of the destruction. It was horrible when one child was involved; so many was unfathomable. And it seemed like all signs were pointing towards their not-so-favorite transplant from their own world. So when she'd seen Buffy's post, Vi had no hesitation in responding she would be there and went to collect her weapons.
She'd arrived with a couple of stakes, her favorite knife, and a cross. That would work for this slaying trip. After doing a last run down to make sure she had everything, she headed downstairs to meet with the others. Only two days in and already they were teaming up again to face threats, one that happened to be one of the bigger bads in monster gossip circles. Crazy to boot.
Downstairs, she headed over to the door to join up with the rest. Where at one time, a trip like this would have scared her senseless, she was ready to hit the streets and chase up something to stake. When Xander began talking, she remembered something else she missed from the Sunnydale days: his unique summaries on the situation they were about to face. Because big bads showing up to tangle while some demon was trying to start an apocalypse was pretty accurate.
"Cross-dimensional e-mailing," she said quietly. "Hopefully we'll be able to make it one less to deal with tonight."
