That was a step. A big step, even. Even though Sam wanted to make a sort of frowny face at his brother at the mention of their father, he refrained from doing so if only because of the breakthrough being presented to him. If Buffy had any doubts about Dean's thoughts on her, Sam could guarantee her that his brother cared now. No way in hell would Dean Winchester ever talk about his personal life in such detail - about Dad! - to just anyone. It was a thing. A big thing, really. For some as closed off about their father as Dean was? Yeah, it was definitely a big deal. Sam didn't voice that thought out loud though. Instead he slid into the seat next to Dean's own, hands clasping together in his lap as he leaned forward in his seat. "That's actually...interesting." Interesting. Yeah, that was one way to put it. "Did she say anything about the stuff you told her or...I mean, it went well, right?" Of course it went well. Unless that was why Dean was here, sulking in the kitchen. Sulking? Maybe. He hadn't seemed entirely all together when Sam had walked in, which was why he was currently of the opinion that there was something going on. And he had been right, hadn't he?
Sam looked down at his hands, shrugging as innocently as he could manage. "Did you talk about anything else? Stuff that isn't..." Sam twisted his mouth into a half frown. "About that. Stuff. More about...you. And her. Not individually, but like...together. You know." Yeah, he was pushing it. But that was what little brothers did best. "And before you start rolling your eyes and going on about chick flick moments, gimme a break. I want to know. Really."
That really was Sam's not so subtle way of asking for exactly what Dean wasn't willing to give away so easily. Details. Not straight across, down to the finish details. Just...details. Something that could leave him feeling assured that they were all right. Him and Buffy. He didn't need to know - some things were personal (of which he and Ruby wrote the book on) - but there were certain things that Sam wouldn't have minded knowing. Like whether or not Dean was going to end up needing someone to drink with or if his brother was going to be occupied with the woman in question in the near future.
