Drop it, Sam. A jumbled mixture of confusion and annoyance flashed over his features. Dean wanted him to just sit down, be quiet, and pretend that everything was perfectly fine and dandy. For the most part, that was what he did. He kept his mouth shut. He didn't push. Sam went about his business and acted like everything was perfectly okay. Then, of course, there were moments like these. Sam would finally muster up the ability to try and talk to his brother and, again, he'd get shot down. Sam couldn't help but feel better about it. He knew that Dean had a lot going on in his head, but Sam still very well missed those moments when they used to be able to confide in one another. Maybe they weren't the perfect picture of a family, but there were moments when he and Dean could talk. In spite of all the bad out there and between them, they had been able to do so. And now...now they couldn't.
Biting back a retort, Sam got up and moved over to the fridge. Setting his water bottle aside on the counter, Sam tugged the fridge door open and peered inside. Fine, he didn't have to tell him anything. That was just - Buffy? Sam turned away from the open door, brows rising slightly in surprise. Well, he certainly hadn't expected his brother to tell him anything. The brief mention of Buffy alone though? It was far more than Sam expected. One hand on the refrigerator door, Sam shifted forward and raised his brows as patiently as possible. "You talked? What about?" Their relationship? Did they have a relationship? That seemed to be the question of the hour. Suddenly losing what little appetite he had gained, Sam pushed the door shut and leaned back against the fridge. Arms folding over his chest, he looked at Dean rather expectantly. If he thought that he was going to be able to get away with not going into the details on him, he had another thing coming. No, Sam wasn't going to get all ridiculous about it. But he was curious. He had been for quite some time now. Especially if this relationship was the one thing that was keeping Dean together. At least, Sam believed that it was.
"What did she say? What did you say?" He really hoped that they sorted things through. The last thing Sam wanted was to see them pull away from each other. Dean couldn't handle it. Dean didn't need that. He already dealt with enough of that crap already. Sam wanted him to find one stable person in his life - someone that wasn't himself, because Sam didn't know how if he was going to survive Lilith - that could make him feel like he still wasn't in Hell. If that person was Buffy, then the last thing that he wanted was for the two of them to drift apart.
