Dean turned around and quirked his brow at his brother for a moment. The list of what was going on with him, was probably a really big one but that didn't mean he wanted to talk about it. Was going to talk about it. Was ever going to talk about it. He opened his mouth and was going to say that he was sure but he hesitated. Dean wasn't exactly sure why he hesitated. Maybe it was because him and Sam weren't as bad as they used to be; as bad as they could have been. They weren't perfect. Far from it. Not that they'd ever been ... Perfect that was. But the time before he went to hell, wasn't this. This wasn't as bad as the first few months, as bad as it was even the months after the arrivals showed up. Where he was suspicious about every single fucking thing Sam did, and it had hurt-it still did-but he hadn't been able to help it. Though there were moments when things were almost normal between them. And Sam had been trying. And he himself had certainly been trying. Ruby was still alive, wasn't she?
His thoughts and emotions felt jumbled and not quite worth the effort to decipher. However, Sam had been open with him for a hell of a lot of things lately. And while he hated half of those things, he was trying to be there for his brother. Dean wasn't broken enough, tied up in his own issues so much, that he didn't recognize that he should give this open thing a shot. If he still wanted a relatively normal relationship with his brother.
"It's nothing .. bad." Dean responded. Because it wasn't. "Just .. weird." Buffy would probably kick his ass for calling whatever the fuck the had as weird. But what else was it? The last real woman he'd gotten close to was Casey. Because his fantasy wife from the world of the djinn, did not count. No matter how many times, it seemed according people who liked to fuck with dreams, his subconscious wished it to be. That hadn't worked out with Casey. And Layla ... that had been some time before that. That really hadn't been anything. She died. Lisa had never been a possiblity and neither had Andrea (Barr-God, not Rojas). Though for all of five seconds it'd been interesting to think about staying in one place. Buffy was everything they weren't. Still there. Would be there no matter how far he drove. And, the clincher, not dead. So, Buffy was completely uncharted territory. That weirded him out. Among many, many other things. "But I'm handling it." Big. Fat. Lie.
It should have occurred to Dean that no one better than Sam would have been able to tell what a fat lie tha big one was, no matter how short the sentence. However, his attention was still on his not-yet-a-sandwhich. "Not all of them hate us." Dean said with a shrug. But yeah, pretty much that was what he'd meant. He hadn't forgetten about Alistair. Far from it. And he knew there were still trust issue. Hell, between him and Buffy when it came to the big stuff and telling each other things, there were still issues in revealing things. In that she didn't. Because he had a feeling that she didn't because he didn't. And that was .. a lot of things that gave him a headache. He felt that they told her what needed to be known. Nevertheless, it wasn't that great of a feeling to get it in return. Yet he never pushed. Not her or any of them. "Yeah. Right. Not normal." Dean answered. A tiny bit awkward about it himself, and a little annoyed over that.
He cleared his throat slightly and tried again, "It'll be kind of cool to see some of those telekenetic people do some of the hand to hand. Bet it'll be all kind of Matrix-like and shit." Dean looked up, a slightly exited smile on his face and the barest flash of uncertainity in his eyes (of course immediately squashed), at his brother again. See? He was trying. A lot of it was for Sam's benefit. And for some of the people in the building. Because he actually liked them. But some of it also was for his peace of mind. He might not never be friends with Spike and not be tiniest bit of wary around Paige and Christy. However, he could be more open minded. He could ... adapt to these differences where not everyone or everything with superpowers was evil and/or out to kill him and his brother.
