Sam smiled lightly, as if he were unsure of himself. "I'm sure it will." It had to, right? He couldn't imagine a future that didn't include Ruby in his life. It was far too painful to think about, let alone try and convince himself as a possibility. Sam bit down onto his lip, folded his arms over his chest, and looked away. "I love you. Nothing is going to stop me from being with you. Ruby. Nothing. So if that means that we have to deal with a little while of...this tension? Then so be it. But I'm a determine guy." Sam looked to her at that, nodding a bit. "I am. I see something that I want? I'm gonna make sure that I get it. And what I want is you. It's going to be hard getting back to where we want to be - or to, I guess, since I don't think we can ever get back to...that. But we'll make it. We'll manage. Because look at us now. We're still fighting, aren't we?" That was something to be counted on. Their abilities to stay strong through all of this. It was going to be a real bitch to walk through, but if they did it together they'd be okay. Hopefully. Like they kept bringing up, it was going to take some time. And they both were gonna need it.
"I guess..." Sam rubbed at the back of his head, fingers brushing through his hair as he did so. "I guess that's all you need to know. That's why I came back here today, Ruby. I wanted to tell you that you're worth fighting for. Just hang in there until I figure this out, okay? That's all I need you to do." Sam shuffled awkwardly, then looked to the door. After a passing moment, he finally said, "I should probably go. Don't wanna...end up on the couch again." He smiled sheepishly, still looking anything but comfortable.
