No, no, no. He wasn't supposed to be letting this happen. He was supposed to be playing the role of the distant not-boyfriend. Not the man who was so desperate to be near Ruby, even if it was just him being able to hold her and tell her that they were gonna be just fine. It was bad enough that he was letting himself get away with being with her like this. But then Ruby's mouth connected with his neck, kissing the very spot that never failed to drive him completely insane. Sam tensed a little, his breathing coming out much more heavier than usual. He couldn't help it. Ruby was making him nervous and excited and all sorts of things all at once. He tightened his grip on her a bit more; his hold on her being the only thing that was keeping him from grabbing her by the waist, throwing her back on the couch, and having his way with her. Of course, he didn't really know how long that would hold through for him. Because when he had a hold on her like this? Sam literally felt like he was drowning in everything that she was. And, honestly, he was very much okay with that.
"You're more amazing," Sam said softly, enjoying the warm feel of her right against him. He wished that they could always be like this. They could tell the world and all it's rules and responsibilities to go screw itself. If only. "And I love you. I know you might not think it 'cause of what we're going through right now, but I do. You're..." Sam leaned in a little, kissing the top of Ruby's head gently. "You're awesome." That was a fitting word for it. Ruby seemed to be pretty fond of the term.
Was it okay? Sam frowned. "No. It's probably not. Doesn't mean that I don't want it to be."
