"You guess? That virgin - Nancy. She had her whole life ahead of her. And as much of a pain in the ass Henrickson was, he was still a damn good FBI agent. He could've stopped a lot of bad out there if he hadn't of died." Sam glared at her, somewhat shortly, before he shook his head and moved further into the apartment. He couldn't help but get a little temperamental when they talked about what had happened. As much as he had reached some level of understanding in regards to Ruby since their last conversation, Sam also felt terribly defensive of those people that had died that night. They had been good people. Each and every one of them. "I know that you regret it now." He paused, halfway to the living room. "But that doesn't make anything that happened that night excusable. And you really should have told me sooner." He was going to have a hard time getting over this one. Sam was still trying to deal with the fact that Ruby had been working with Lilith and Azazel all this time. Getting past this, especially after adding it to the mix, was a hard thing to do. He'd made a promise to Ruby though. And Sam fully intended on keeping it.
Finding the couch, Sam shrugged his jacket off and dropped it over the arm of one of the sitting chairs. Then he sat down on the couch, hands clasping together loosely in his lap as he leaned forward. "Yeah, he came and got me." Sam frowned, looking down at his foot. "It was an interesting find though. I...was attacking the car. And I lost my shoe." Sam couldn't remember if he had told Ruby as much last night. He had gotten pretty drunk. "I...actually think I'll pass on the beer. Thanks." He couldn't help but give her wrist a quick glance though. Sam didn't say anything yet, but he would. He knew that he would. There was just no avoiding it. Considering that he had been desperate enough to attempt drowning out his craving for her with beer last night, Sam couldn't even begin to imagine as to how long he was going to be able to survive in the same room with her without cracking.
"You should sit down, too," Sam advised, nodding a little as if to reassure himself that her taking a seat beside him would be all right. "I want to explain myself. Sort of. I mean..." Sam rubbed at the back of his neck and quietly waited for Ruby to take up the space beside him. Once she did, he twisted his hands together nervously before he reached out and placed a hand on her knee. "I was pissed. I am pissed. But I didn't mean to freak out on you when you were...I'm sorry I ruined it for you. What you did for that girl. I know it was a huge deal for you and I should've been more..." Sam looked down, furrowing his brow. "I should've been more enthusiastic about it. I guess what I'm trying to say here is that I'm still...I hate what you did and I will never be happy about it. In fact, if you weren't - if I didn't believe that you stood a chance at getting better, I'd probably have..." He didn't need to finish that sentence, did he? Ruby knew what he would have done. He being the Hunter. Ruby being the demon. Nothing good would have come of it if he didn't have faith in her ability to become something better. "You can't keep stuff like that from me, Ruby. Not anymore. I have to know about things like that, especially when those things play such a huge role in my life."
