This was one of those times that she missed the Clocktower. A lot. Among other reasons? Because at least back there - or even in her apartment after she'd returned to Gotham - there was an elevator! She'd actually needed assistance to get herself down the stairs! It was something that she hated, even when she was back in Gotham she'd rarely let anyone wheel her around (impossible really as her normal chair [not the one she was in] didn't have backhandles), much less carry her. But it had become necessary. It was a choice between that and staying in her apartment all night.
She'd managed to get downstairs - with the help of another individual. And she still had no idea how she was going to get back. Logic dictated that there were two possiblitiies in the future. Either an elevator needed to be installed or she would inevitably need to move. Either way that wasn't really on her mind at that moment. The laptop in front of her - on one of the tables - had a direct link to the city's central computer system. It was amazing sometimes just how easy it was to slip into municipal databases. Admittedly she was a bit concerned about the lack of files prior to 1995 that had been input into the system, but those were most likely kept in paper copies. It was easy to piggyback from the municipal system to the state. It was just a matter of knowing the backdoors.
She wasn't taking anything. She was instead working on putting an alert in. A notification system as she'd had back in Gotham. It didnt' matter whhat the universe, computer systems were all the same, even if this one was a bit less advanced than what she was used to. The backdoor was easy to find and once the unit was in, she closed the program, leaving it looking like there was a word document on screen, even though behind it there was an encryption program running.
The food in the microwave behind her beeped and Barbara wheeled around to get it. It wasn't much, but it would do. The question really was now, what to do. she'd started making mental lists of the programs she'd need, the techniques she neeeded to use, and was working on different possible backup plans. This was a large undertaking and she'd need all of her skills to do it. But she was confident. Bringing her plate back to the table she started reading the text on the screen, taking a bite of her microwave burito... She'd need to do her Katas tomorrow to get this burrito off. But it was worth it.
