"Why don't you want to be a....uh, Pretty?" Wasn't that the same as calling herself an adult? Was she not ready to grow up or something? Tony clasped his hands together and laughed again. "You'll have to excuse me here. I'm not trying to be rude, it's just that the names are a little...unusual. I've never heard someone describe things with terms like Pretty and Ugly before. At least not like this. It's strange." He didn't mean to come off as offensive. But at the same time, where he came from? He couldn't imagine anyone walking around and getting away with saying that without getting a few odd looks. All in all, he thought that he was handling this conversation quite well. He was really gonna have to get used to this place.
Not that he could entirely judge. Telling people that he was from the Dollhouse and that he used to be a Doll probably sounded a little weird too. In fact, when he had first discovered the place personally? He had been downright amused. Dollhouse. Doll friggin' house. How strange.
"Why don't things ever work out around your friend?" It sounded like she was cursed or something. Or that her friend was the type of person looking to get into trouble all the time; the kind of trouble that ended up dragging Shay her down with her. He used to have a friend like that when he was a kid. Always wanted to do something incredibly stupid - things that he knew that they shouldn't have attempted, but did anyway because his friend just wanted to do it. He could remember trying to steal candy from a store once. Their asses got busted so fast it wasn't even funny. Well, it was sort of funny now. But back then? Nope. No way. He had been terrified and confused and in tons of trouble with his parents. Good times.
