The war is over and the wizarding world is back to normal. There is a new Minister for Magic, one who has innovative ideas and a modern view on things. Hogwarts is rebuild, and it seems as if the wizarding world has survived. Almost. Because the old prejudices still run as an undercurrent in society and the number of pure-blood children is decreasing. The new Minster for Magic is worried. Something must be done, and Kingsley Shacklebolt gets a brilliant, if not modern, idea - or so he thinks: he issues a law which decrees that unmarried witches or wizards of age must marry. Not just anyone, no. No pure-blood can marry another pure-blood, just as a Muggle-born cannot marry another Muggle-born. If people are not doing it willingly, the Ministry is going to help and choose their husband or wife for them. Within a year, every bachelor and spinster in the wizarding world will have a spouse - even the ones in Azkaban. The scene is set for intrigue and lobbying, for desperate measures, for power and money used as pressure. Now is the time for cunning plans! The wizarding world is in uproar, and in the middle of this, Kingsley Shacklebolt has forgotten one thing: he isn't married, either. When the Marriage Law is issued, friend has to marry friend to keep family lines free of Muggles - or to avoid that Muggle-borns fall in the hands of pure-blood prisoners. Some have already found the one they would like to marry, others have not. Freedom of choice is not for everyone. Luckily, some ministry workers don't support Kingsley's idea and have managed to sneak loopholes into the law... |
