In the year 500 B.C.E., long before the invention of the portkey, Herpo the Foul created what was known as the timekey. This would allow for anyone to come in contact with it to travel back to when it was created. However, there were several problems. One, very specifically being sending people far into the future, unable to return. Despite the fact that he had made thousands of timekeys, Herpo abandoned the project, going on to discover the basilisk instead. The world would not know of the timekeys, for they were doomed to failure.

However, around 1200 A.D. they were rediscovered by Morgan le Fey. Having heard of the timekeys through extensive research, she attempted to perfect them. She succeeded. The timekeys began to send people back to the very moment she fixed them, people beginning to appear before her in the basement she used to conduct her research in secret. However, there was one thing she didn't count on. Merlin.

He was informed of her research and set out immediately to put a stop to it. Morgana, in her last attempt to save what she'd done, hid them throughout England, most of them ending up right within Hogwarts. As more people appear before her, she will attempt to recruit them to her cause, hoping that they will all turn against Merlin and fight against him. There are those that escape, however. They are now forced to fend for themselves in a time that is not their own. There is only one safe place to go...
