King Henry Tudor VIII was one of the most influential and ruthless kings in England's history. He was often influenced and misguided by the council of his court. Some of his accomplishments could either be considered great, or just the opposite. Due to the corruption of the people closest to himself, he killed many innocents without remorse in the name of religion. He destroyed churches and monasteries during the English Reformation. Although his intentions were good, wanting to use the money he gained from stripping down buildings of worship to give back to his people, it didn't end that way. King Henry VIII was also well known for having gone through six wives during his reign from 1509-1547. One of these wives would be the start of it all. Something the realm would soon call, "The Great Matter." |
