When Sam Winchester killed the demon Lillith and opened the final seal, it was expected that Lucifer would rise from Hell and force Dean Winchester, chosen by Heaven and the Angels, to defeat him. The Winchesters hadn't really expected to come face to face with God, the Lamb and a chorus of twelve beautiful angels instead.
Had the Angels gotten their Heavenly wires crossed? Maybe. Unlikely.
While the world rejoiced the return of God and peace, those aware and knowledgeable in the existence of Evil remained uneasy, doubtful and full of questions. Those most curious turned to their texts, both religious and occult. The Book of Revelation stood out most of all. According to Revelations, Lucifer's deception is to be the ultimate blasphemy. He would walk the earth, and mankind would believe him to be God. For fourty two months, he would be allowed to walk the Earth and decieve mankind into worshipping him by performing miracles and bringing peace, all while damning their souls to Hell. The ultimate harvest. After his time's up, it is said that Lucifer would be banished back into the spirit world and never again be allowed to call himself God. Oh, and that by the way? Lucifer's final banishing will trigger the end of the World. Literally.
But even as Hunters around the country and world remain sceptical, both about the likelihood Revelations is real and the likelihood the Winchesters actually saw the face of God that day, it's like a blanket of peace has covered the world while everything Supernatural and Evil has gone on a radio silence. Psychics aren't receiving anything. Prophets aren't prophesizing. Hunters aren't hunting because there was nothing, apparently, to hunt. Most disturbing of all, the Angels have disappeared.
There is no guidance, only questions: has God come back or was it Lucifer working the best con job in history? If Lucifer is walking the Earth collecting and damning souls, will he be happy with a 3 1/2 year reign before crawling back into his hole or will he prove far more ambitious than that?
And where is God, anyway?
