When Divatox, intergalactic pirate queen of evil, finally destroyed the Turbo Rangers and their Command Centre, it wasn't the end of its energies. With nowhere to go, the powers of the Morphing Grid that were once contained within seeped into the universe itself, opening up rifts in time and space over the entire planet.

Anything that falls through the rifts tends to arrive with some modicum of technology, hacked into cooperation with the new universe by as-yet unknown forces. There are translators, GPSes, even a rough kind of teleporter that mimics the Rangers' old technologies.

For as long as there have been Slayers there has always been the Watchers. Built up of a community of ancient human families, they are the rare individuals who have been gifted with the knowledge of what goes bump in the night. From a young age they are educated in supernatural lore, taught self defence and basic weaponry. They are instructed in counselling, taught resourcefulness and even given medical training. A Watcher is, ultimately, everything to a Slayer. Which is why only the very good are given one to protect.

Slayers might be nature's way of trying to control and police the supernatural population but Watchers are humanity's.
