"I was ten years old when my father told me I was destined to be a Watcher. He was one, and his mother before him. And I was to be next." For as long as there have been Slayers there has always been the Watchers. Built up of a community of ancient human families, they are the rare individuals who have been gifted with the knowledge of what goes bump in the night. From a young age they are educated in supernatural lore, taught self defence and basic weaponry. They are instructed in counselling, taught resourcefulness and even given medical training. A Watcher is, ultimately, everything to a Slayer. Which is why only the very good are given one to protect. Slayers might be nature's way of trying to control and police the supernatural population but Watchers are humanity's. |
