"Can we ever hope to understand the force that shapes the soul? To fight evil, one must know evil; one must journey back through time and find that fork in the road, where heroes turn one way and villains turn another." God is tired. Tired of war.Of death.Of his children, his creations, fighting. Murdering each other for the sake of peace. Mostly though he tired of being searched for day in and out. He is tired of everything. Sitting on the edges of the universe, the highest angel came up with an idea. One good day, some time off, that's all he wants. So why can't his children be extended the same courtesy? He see's no reason why they can't. All them, from every world, one good day. "People fall out of the world sometimes but they always leave traces. Creating a new world takes energy, time, and power that he simply doesn't want to use. Instead the Highest Being decides to do something he's never done before: restart the universe. Its simple really. Everyone gets a second chance. He gets some time off.Everyone wins right? Wrong. Restarting the universe also seemed to have restarted time. Memories are wiped. Loved ones are no longer dead. Roads that were walked down are now travelled. The question that remains however isn't what will happen now. No, the real question: What will you do with a second chance? |

"My intention is not to offend anyone, but... you have all been wrong. You apply human science to everything, but not everything is of a human nature. There are things that lie well beyond your realm of explanation and understanding, and quite frankly, they always will. For they have been present in this world, for longer than your earliest ancestors." -Pruflas With those words, centuries of careful concealment have been unraveled. The underground world of the supernaturals has been brought to light, and very much against their will. The year is 2056, the place is Amsterdam. The capital, and largest city in the Netherlands has become the unofficial home of the Supernatural world. Not only is the local government controlled by wealthy non-humans, but it also happens to be a willing host to those humans who do not shy away from the wicked, but instead embrace it. This harmonic unison is shaken when a demon named Pruflas takes it upon himself to expose the entire world to their kind, simply to combat his own boredom. Residence in Amsterdam steadily find themselves under the judgmental eyes of the world, as well as the terrorism some people are willing to enact, in a desperate attempt to protect the human population from these monsters. The world has come to a precipice, either they will be accepted, destroyed, or they will take the throne, and rule over those below them. Some want peace, others war, and then there are those who have yet to take a stand. Either way, no one will be left unaffected. What will they do? Will they burrow deeper into the shadows, in hopes of keeping themselves hidden from the masses of humans who don't understand them, and who don't want them there? Or will courage flourish, and will they show themselves to the world, and insist on living side by side with their sometimes prey? What will they do? What would you do? We accept, and are looking for a wide range of supernatural beings. Particularly, humans and demons are wanted at this time. Old and new characters alike are welcome. Have an older character you're itching to play again, and want to hash out? Bring them to us. Or maybe you're not sure what, or who you want to play, or you don't want to come into a game with no ties. There are numerous wanted characters, check the page for a bit of muse like inspiration. Also, our restricted pb list has been revised. There are now more options available.

"In the war for survival, what side do you choose?" A newborn vampire had went on a frenzy, causing nothing but death and destruction in it’s wake. The world could do nothing but watch in horror as the man created his own armies, whether it was knowingly or not. These armies had no purpose other then to kill and feed. Being pack hunters and very territorial, the nearby werewolves were obviously not happy at their food supply being taken advantage of in such a way and fought tooth and nail against the threat that was before them, but to no avail. Instead, all it did was out them as more monsters out to destroy the human race. Bordering up the walls of Salem, New Hampshire, and setting up posts of men with flame throwers, they hoped to contain the threat, but it was to no avail. There were too many of them and all those men became were more bodies to add to the count. Today, most humans have taken shelter underground, creating their own hidden city and doing what they can to salvage what is left of their lives. There is chaos at all times, and around every corner they are plagued with danger and death. It’s a fight for shelter, food, weapons, and worst of all, their own survival.

A NEW GENERATION of heroes is trained under the veterans of old - young men and women learning from their heroes how to be the best super powered individuals they can become, at Byrne Academy. This new facility, hastily thrown together due to a rash of powered adolescents springing up across the world, is absolutely one of a kind. Located in the heart of the Mojave Desert, students come to gather in a location where they can do no damage to the outside world - either to learn how to join the powered world, or how to manage their powers and live a regular life. THE VETERANS' GUIDING HANDS are not enough, however: a new brand of unsavory vigilante is coming forth; individuals less concerned with morals and doing good and more with getting their man any way possible. The old guard of the heroic world try their best to mold these people, even inviting the presence of post-secondary age students to join them for internships and one-on-one tutoring that extends beyond that offered to the high-school age children in the facility. But it may already be too late to help those who have written their own lateral moral code. WATCHING FROM THE SHADOWS are the infamous group, the Chaos Syndicate, who have their fingers in everything - including the operation of the school. Covert members of the organization have joined the school, both as teachers and students, and are waiting for the opportune moment to recruit and pull the facility apart at the seams, thereby damaging international security and the strength of governments the world over. The Chaos Syndicate will strike - it's only a matter of time. Join us today, to experience Rites of Passage - inviting students, teachers, and superpowered individuals in the outside world. |

In Southern California, there recently opened a new luxury apartment building. Impeccably designed, impossibly convenient, ideally located, Pax Letale is the sort of residential Shangri La where Southern Californians spend all manner of favors and years trying to secure a spot. But Pax doesn't have a waiting list, nor can a place there be bought or sold. The people who find their way to Pax Letale belong there. Every tenant of Pax is a reincarnated deity whose worshipers are by and large long dead. Once very real, these gods began to fade as science and reason dispelled the probability of their existence. Reborn as mortals, their essences remain, waiting to be awakened. Somehow, sometimes one by one, sometimes in groups or pairs, these creatures of destiny have discovered Pax, and have not been able to resist its pull. For at Pax Letale, the awakening has begun. As these gods rediscover themselves and each other, the seemingly invisible but ubiquitous management tracks each of them quite closely, and the very building itself seems to have an agenda of its own. And as the gods made humans in their own image - or humans made them in theirs - so will the the behavior of the people of Pax turn as dark as their myths. Blood, strife, sex, petty plots, torture - even murder will wind their ways into Pax Letale. A lovely place. A peculiar place. A dangerous place. Enki is the Babylonian god of water, crafts, intelligence and creation. Twin of and best friend of Ereshkigal, goddess of the Underworld, he is often seen as a positive foil to his brother Enlil, utilizing his magic and cunning for the good of others; he brings aid to deities and humans alike, serving as a rare masculine nuturer in a chaotic and often oppressively patriarchal pantheon. He will likely have connections to Tiamat, Ereshkigal, and other Sumero-Babylonian deities. Brighid is the Celtic goddess of the forge, inspiration, compassion and creativity, and a patron goddess of artists, craftsmen, and other creative types. In her mortal life, she may have connections to her parents, her siblings, or any of the Celtic pantheon. Masauwu is a Hopi deity sometimes called the Skeleton Man, Keeper of Fire, Spirit of Death, and the Master of the Fourth (present) World. He is depicted as a dark-skinned man wearing a mask; sometimes the creature beneath this mask is described as handsome, sometimes as a disfigured monster. Connections to Native American deities and gods and goddesses of death or enlightenment are likely. Don't see a tenant that interests you? Other deities and pantheons are welcome - pick one of the active pantheons in the game, or talk to a mod if there's one you don't see, and make your modern god as you see him/her/it. Holds and applications are being accepted for all available pantheons. |

The year is 2011. It has been six years since the governments of the world admitted to the existence of the Augmented-- a new sub-species of humans with superhuman abilities, caused by genetic mutations. The source of these 'Augmentations', as the people have termed them, has yet to be discovered (or, as the more cynical will say, 'admitted to') by any government or agency involved. And yes, for better or worse, multiple governments and agencies have decided to, or been forced into, involving themselves. As with any great social debate, the Augmented 'Issue' has reached the international stage. The usual powers have drawn the expected lines; from the more permissive countries passing Civil Rights legislation, to the more traditional passing "human rights" laws to protect real humans from the 'creatures' and 'freaks' that science has supposedly inflicted on Mankind. America, with its moderate stance and decided lack of action, has received the limelight once again on the eve of multiple high-profile bills and laws being slated to roll through Congress. Issues concerning identification and registration of the Augmented, civil rights concerns, even the patent for a cure, are all slowly inching their way through the American bureaucratic machine. All the while, the two 'non-political' factions, led by the Augmented themselves, are already in the midst of cautiously (or, in some cases, anxiously) preparing for the war to come. Because no matter the decisions, there will be fallout. And no one, human or Augmented, will be left unaffected. augmented is an original character (OC) superpowers game in the vein of the X-Men, Watchmen, and other politically-driven superhero/mutant franchises. Both human and Augmented characters are welcome and encouraged to take part in the war (metaphorical and literal) over the question of what, exactly, it is to be (super)human. |
