2005; New Orleans is struck by Hurricane Katrina. Considered the fifth worst natural disaster in the history of the United States, the hurricane claimed over a thousand lives, and caused over $81 billion dollars in damage. Reconstruction of the beloved port city would take years. The vampires of the New Orleans coven - survivors of Queen Akasha's attempted genocide - were scattered. Some remained together, others traveled alone, but all were removed from the city that had become their home. Present day; a few of the older vampires have returned to N.O. in an attempt to help with reconstruction. One such vampire is Marius de Romanus, posing as a man of wealth and leisure. He buys up properties, fixing them up and renting them to mortals. He also opens a book store and an art gallery, using both of these as a means by which to stay updated with the current day. He provides shelter for new vampires in the area, and seeks to recreate the city as it once was. Slowly, the other vampires are returning as well, some through letters sent by Marius, some simply to see what has become of the city. And some are drawn back by rumor. A myth that has been around for over 700 years speaks of a myriad of objects that can restore a vampire from monster to something closer to human. There has been little proof for this myth, and so many discount it - yet its telling persists. A local museum showing may offer more answers. You are here, in New Orleans. Be you mortal or immortal (or something else entirely), you are welcome to join us in our quest - should it be for redemption, for immortality, or something else, we do not know. Each has their own motivation, each their own demons. Join us and find the truth. Premise | Rules | FAQ | Taken | Wanted | Application |
You think you know London, its streets and alleys like the creases of your palm. You don't know all its secrets. In its depths are places to buy amulets and tarot readings, a talisman that permits the wearer to manipulate luck hangs alongside bottles of herbs and demon's blood. Books so ancient the pages are tissue-thin jostle against postcards of buses and telephone boxes. There are bars where the clientele don't just find the dim light flattering, but downright necessary, and the smell of brimstone lingers in the nostrils. There are corners and recesses where magic isn't trickery or sleight of hand, but blood and bone and flesh and you might -- you might -- catch sight of feathers pure as snow and light, if you know where to go. If you know how to see. There's a pitched battle being fought for this other London and your London besides -- one in which every human in existence is being counted in a gamble for souls, Heaven and Hell trying to tip the scales and grave-faced Librarians holding them steady. And all the time, people go about their lives with a little pinch of something extra in a London you'll never see. |

"My intention is not to offend anyone, but... you have all been wrong. You apply human science to everything, but not everything is of a human nature. There are things that lie well beyond your realm of explanation and understanding, and quite frankly, they always will. For they have been present in this world, for longer than your earliest ancestors." -Pruflas With those words, centuries of careful concealment have been unraveled. The underground world of the supernaturals has been brought to light, and very much against their will. The year is 2056, the place is Amsterdam. The capital, and largest city in the Netherlands has become the unofficial home of the Supernatural world. Not only is the local government controlled by wealthy non-humans, but it also happens to be a willing host to those humans who do not shy away from the wicked, but instead embrace it. This harmonic unison is shaken when a demon named Pruflas takes it upon himself to expose the entire world to their kind, simply to combat his own boredom. Residence in Amsterdam steadily find themselves under the judgmental eyes of the world, as well as the terrorism some people are willing to enact, in a desperate attempt to protect the human population from these monsters. The world has come to a precipice, either they will be accepted, destroyed, or they will take the throne, and rule over those below them. Some want peace, others war, and then there are those who have yet to take a stand. Either way, no one will be left unaffected. What will they do? Will they burrow deeper into the shadows, in hopes of keeping themselves hidden from the masses of humans who don't understand them, and who don't want them there? Or will courage flourish, and will they show themselves to the world, and insist on living side by side with their sometimes prey? What will they do? What would you do? | |
