Within the lands of the True Game, humans have come to possess any combination of eleven different talents. Beguiling, elating, firestarting, flight, healing, moving, necromancy, reading, seeing, shapeshifting, and storing. People can have complete control over only one ability, or moderate levels of up to four. The world is rife with the talented but it's usually rare to find two of the exact same combinations of talents. MODS | RPG | OOC PREMISE | INFO | RULES | FAQ | LOCATIONS | TAKEN | WANTED | APPLY |

The year is 2161. Technology has expanded with the march of time: holographic communication, personalized mini-computers, humanoid robots... all of these things exist, especially if you’ve got enough money. But the real evolution? The humans themselves. Welcome to Boston, the City of Notions. Embrace the future: embrace the evolution. The City of Notions is an original character, supernatural, mystery game set in futuristic Boston and focusing on a group of evolved humans working in and around the Boston Police Department and Crime Lab. When a series of serial killings leaves three women dead in a rather... Shakespearean manner, the detectives of the BPD struggle to piece together the mysterious painted clues left at each crime scene. Little do they know that the killings are much, much more than random violence: someone is systematically killing off the city’s powered humans -- someone with a plan. The Premise There’s a world beneath the London you know, a world that smells of brimstone and blood, where magic lives alongside the mundane. It’s a world where you can buy abilities at a travelling Market, where when the circus rolls into town it brings nightmares with it, and is presided over by an organisation so old, time has forgotten when the Library began. It’s a world where anything goes, where London is just another board for the game and gamble for souls is taking place and you might - just might - encounter one of Heaven’s own or a demon amid the crowds on the underground and they play to win. |
Wanted We need: those who are trying to understand and adapt to abilities -- the firestarter with the potential to make everything a bit smoky, the telekinetic fighting for control, the weather-manipulator with a few false starts to become residents at Haven, the in-game sanctuary for the struggling. We need Librarians, those well-controlled individuals who know exactly where the balance ought be between Heaven and Hell and who are unafraid to face off the denizens of both in order to fight for it. We need the self-interested, those souls striking out and fearless of repercussions. We need the rest of the vampire community, those that are trying to maintain a low-profile for fear of reprisal. We need the rest of the Market family, the magical mafia themselves with fingers in all magical operations across the city! |

PANDION
Centuries ago, humanity reached a breakthrough in evolution as a species. Designated the acronym GENI (Genetically ENgineered Incipient, also commonly known as Generation I), they were synthetic homo sapiens manufactured in vitro with enhanced physique and intelligence, rapid regeneration, biological immortality and cyber synchronicity. The original, a dark skinned female, was aptly named Eve. There were six prototypes in all, each derived from the genetic template of Eve. As a result of this lack of genetic diversity, the six were unfit to be reproductive matches for each other. Instead, they expanded in numbers by means of replication.
They helped propel civilisation to the next stage. They fought our wars for us. But in an age where selective human enhancement served to exacerbate social stratification, the GENI were used, not loved. Scientific marvel and admiration soon soured to envy, jealousy and resentment. Compounded by ongoing ethical and religious controversies, the destruction of a seventh prototype in development by a rioting mob signalled the precipice of an already simmering hostility. Those who once fought our wars for us declared war against us, forsaking their adopted families and nations. The First Transhuman War saw rivers of blood and ended in mutual cessation when the GENI took to the galaxy in search of a home to call their own.
It is said that the GENI founded a colony on a distant planet and developed in complete isolation from natural humans. The lead scientist, their true 'father,' was reported missing and was presumed to have joined his children. Over the years, they faded from our memories and became a chapter in history and philosophy texts. The Second War was not so much a war as it was an extermination. Mankind was woefully unprepared for the sudden assault on Earth. Oceans and lands alike were decimated. Within hours, the human population was down to its last hundred thousand. The survivors surrendered unconditionally and were colonised under the rule of GENI Viceroys.
The few who remain at large count the days in fear aboard a Damocles-class capital ship known as the Pandion. Once the pride of the Earth's fleet, it is equipped with a faster-than-light system and its immense girth is capable of accommodating a small city if necessary. But there are no more people left to fill a city. It need only carry its crew and a scattering of passengers. Keep them safe. And live.
