Secrets never really stay buried. It's a cliché for a reason: sooner or later, everything that's kept bound up is pulled out of hiding. Benjamin Franklin once said that three people could keep a secret if two were dead, and maybe that’s the truth. Maybe the only kind of secret that never gets exposed is the one you never share in the first place. But that’s not human nature, really. Sooner or later, we feel the need to unburden our souls, to confess, to make things right - or to finally get our revenge after all. Some like to gather up others’ secrets, use them for personal profit; others just like to know they’re trusted. They never mean to betray things. They never mean to hurt.  After the near destruction of Hogwarts in the summer of 1998, several changes were decided upon during its reconstruction. Hogwarts had always been a great place for learning, but lacked what some of the other magical schools had: a well-rounded education that focused on more than just magical mastery. With a helping hand from the newly established Ministry, several elective clubs and activities were created and formed to encourage expanded learning. These changes have evolved over the years, slightly changing as professors came and went at the school, but never quite disappearing. In fact, Hogwarts has become very event-oriented and is now hailed as a hands-on teaching school. There is still some harsh criticism from certain media outlets and former Hogwarts students that remember how the school used to be run. In fact, some would call the need to implement art as something required for learning to be quite piffling. Piffled is a game set in the school year 2022-2023, focusing on students from 5th to 7th year. An event oriented game, students are encouraged to participate in as many clubs, school activities, and events as possible. After the seventh year, comes the eighth. Voldemort has been defeated, the dust has settled and everyone is working hard to rebuild their lives following the end of the war. One would think that it would be a time of peace and healing... But not everyone is pleased with the demise of the Dark Lord. For he was a leader, and what's a leader without his followers? These followers didn't just disappear after Voldemort's death, no, they only went into hiding. Recruiting from their position in the shadows, the remaining Death Eaters are targeting the younger generation in order to restore their population and finish what they started. Those not aware of the darkness still surrounding them are going on with their lives as best they can. Only time will tell if things are really changing for the better. Or perhaps the world is merely being led into a false sense of security. |
