 2108, the world.Two hundred years from bloody wars, social strife and human suffering, the world is no longer a separation of entities. Countries with borders do not exist and ethnic divisions no longer apply; immigration and socialism have made the world a virtual paradise—equality for all, unlimited natural resources since man’s ascension to the stars—it is, without a doubt, peace on earth. 2208, the future. It is not the future of Orwell’s 1984 or even Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451; there is no Big Brother who watches a quaking population tirelessly through devices in building’s walls or human eyes themselves, there are no book-censoring firemen. The government does not oppress the people, but instead it is the people who oppress the government. And it is all done in a single city. China, once an economic powerhouse and a sleeping dragon destined one day to awaken is now home to the only political center in the world. The Forbidden City, once the throne of dynastic emperors now houses The Imperial Family, its royal court, and all the governing heads required to serve the people. Selected nearly one hundred years ago through genetic technology and raised by advanced social systems, the first emperor was installed in The City as a servant of the people. His first wife, chosen in a similar manner, was placed beside him as empress, and the city was filled with people who would serve the world as the population demanded. All of the emperor’s children are raised strictly with the beliefs of the world community, which consists of a mixture of tradition and forward thinking that serves the chosen version of utopia best. When it is time to choose a new leader—whether or not the current emperor has died, abdicated, or simply lost the Mandate of Heaven—one is selected from the Emperor’s children based on genetic, emotional, and social screening. Of course, The Forbidden City is perhaps the one place in the universe that is home to all of humanity’s strife. And that is its destiny. --- The City is a futuristic royalty roleplay that centers on the lives of those within China’s Forbidden City. Though they may be the people with the most power within its walls and the least outside, each is far from perfect and each has no escape but through death, exile, or by permission of the emperor. They had finally made it. Friends embraced each other, lovers kissed, and children bounced happily. The truce between the Cylons and Humans remained steady as each gazed upon the beautiful planet known as Earth. They had found their new home, and they were going to share it. The planet would help continue the existence of each race, or so they thought. The few that were given the chance to step foot on the ground soon found the planet not to be up to their expectations. There was nothing left; the planet was in ruin. Something had happened many years before their arrival. How could this desolate place be home of the Thirteenth Tribe? How could it be home to anyone? The group looked over the land, unable to comprehend what could possibly have done this to a planet. There was silence; everyone was too surprised to speak, and too downtrodden to suggest that it was only part of the planet. Before anyone had a chance to return to the Raptor, Dr. Gaius Balter stumbled across a piece of technology that was foreign to him. He stood in front of the DHD and peered over it, recognizing the shapes as constellations. In fact, he recognized quite a few of them, from this galaxy and their home galaxy. As he examined the device, Six appeared next to it, whispering in his ear and telling him to punch in a certain code. He listened to her, and did as he was told. Within moments, the watery-vortex that was the wormhole burst forth through the ring-like portal and the group was taken aback. The group cautiously approached the Stargate, curious as to what type of technological capabilities the 'Thirteenth Tribe' possessed. It was Kara Thrace, triggered by something in her memories, that passed through the Event Horizon first, followed shortly after by Lee and Sam. It wasn't long until the rest of the group made their way through. What awaited them on the other side was something that would surprise them even more: the past. A glitch in the system allowed the group to bypass Atlantis' precautionary measures, and they all arrived on the other side, guns pointed at them and Dr. Elizabeth Weir gazing down at them. And that is where the battle for humanity continued, for the groups all worked together to keep the Wraith and Ori from teaming up and destroying Earth together... The Event Horizon is a Battlestar Galactica/Stargate RP that allows for most characters from the series (New BSG, SG-1 & Atlantis) to be incorporated, as well as original characters! It takes place during the last season of SG-1/season 3 of Atlantis and the last season of BSG. We've only just started and we're looking for a majority of the canon cast still. The 1977-78 school year is finally coming to an end, and on a rather rough note for that matter. The triwizard had been banned for centuries, but this was not your standard triwizard game, Dumbledore had explained. Rather, a tournament of skill for students. "A magical obstacle course, Dumbeldore has finally flipped his rocker and taken his newest role as a muggle phys ed. teacher," The prophet had said. But despite its initial criticism from those on the outside, the excitement for the games concentrated on the young, and young at heart. Tournament, it was called. One weekend in May, a bona fide endurance test of all the skills the students had learned over the course of their School careers. Tournament is a Marauders Era, Hogwarts Private Story Line set during a Weekend tournament that tests the magical and moral skills of the participating students. LET THE GAMES BEGIN. | APPLICATION : GUIDELINES : TAKEN : WANTED Shelby, California, nestled at the foot of the San Bernadino mountain range, was once a widely populous town. Countless people migrated to the place in 1850 as a result of the Gold Rush fever spreading throughout the state. By 1855, Shelby was a ghost town. Houses and buildings alike had been abandoned, ransacked, and some even burned to the ground. Its residents had fled, fearing the wrath of the vindictive Dooger Brothers’ Gang, and for nine years it remained that way. Deserted. September 1864. Travelers came back to the town and laid claim on the land. They rebuilt, restocked, created new lives for themselves. Faith was restored in these people, this land. But one thing the new residents never counted on was the return of the hostiles. The bandits. Two rival groups of outlaws, both claiming the town was rightfully theirs to steal from. Both groups periodically threatened New Shelby’s growing economy. The year is 1867. The place is the fictional former ghost town of New Shelby, California. Law men, bandits, cowboys, and Native Americans abound. A childhood game of “Cowboys and Indians” has come back anew. |
