In an alternate universe where the countries and politics differ on Earth than what we are familiar with, is an advanced scientific process that can predict the talents and appearance of newborn infants. Once these talents and physical features are ranked and rated, the children are then, most often, taken away from their parents to be raised in their specialties. These specialties cover a broad spectrum of fields: math, science, politics, art, etc. This game focuses specifically on those who were chosen to work in the arts.
Musicians, writers, actors, models, athletes, and other types of entertainers became the elite of the world. They were deemed as being perfect and referred to as The Blue, which is a term taken from the word blue-blood (direct dictionary meaning is listed as: aristocratic, noble, or socially prominent lineage or relatives: “They boasted a lineage of pure blue blood.”). The Department of Media and Entertainment, a government created organization, took it upon themselves to make sure that these elite were well taken care of as well continued to produce more of the elite in an effort to keep the economy and standard of living boosted for all.
The Blue have since had their lives run for them. They live in their own appointed province. They are told who they will marry and have children with. They are told what they are and aren’t allowed to do. They are essentially turned into mindless puppets, brainwashed, and are constantly putting on a show for their caretakers as well as the rest of the world.
The limited chance that they have to be an individual is quickly squashed, for all tabloids are written by a very well informed republic that will stop at nothing to keep up their darlings' perfect appearances.
But what happens when the doors are closed and they have those small tastes of freedom to be and do as they please?
In The Blue, you take on the role of one of these elite. Did you fall for the manipulation, or were you strong enough to retain your own ideas and dreams? Do you live the life that was fabricated for your “well being and the betterment of mankind”, or do you take advantage of those few precious moments behind the closed doors to find an escape from the prison?
