That about summed it up. Keeping his eyes on Sirius, he gave a nod, but nothing more. Despite noticing Sirius's discomfort, he remained standing. His feet felt like they were glued to the floor. He couldn't move. He could only watch. The moment was forcing him to become a witness as Sirius sat down on the bed. Remus could recall a hundred, a thousand memories with Sirius looking precisely as he did right now. They had lived together here after all. This had been his room too. He wondered if any of their things were left in the night stand. How many remnants of the past had out lasted them?
"Yeah." Remus said, feeling a bit breathless and just a little panicky. Taking his hands out of his pockets, he forgot about the ring he was wearing as he crossed the room and sat beside Sirius. He had missed him more than he could ever say. And he was back now, but things were different. So very different. "I missed you." Remus said then, clearing his throat. He was tempted to reach out and lace their fingers together, to hold on tight and make him listen--make him promise that they would still be friends. Remus still needed him. He would always need him. He would always love him. He hadn't lied when he had promised him that when they were young and naive. He had meant it. Even when he thought Sirius was a traitor to their cause, he had still loved him.
"Three years." Remus replied, looking down at the floor. "You were gone for three years." In his time that was. "And I missed you." words fell from his lips, not going in any particular direction, just meandering towards the topic he had in mind. "I do love you Sirius." he said, lifting his gaze to meet his to make sure that he would believe him. "I do. I told you I always would and I wasn't lying. I meant it. Every word." he continued, clearing his throat once more. "But-" and there it was, out in the open. "-Dora." he said, keeping his eyes on Sirius's as he tried to figure out a way to say this. "I'm-" there didn't seem to be any way to word this any easier. "-I'm in love with Dora." he said, pursing his lips together. "I married Dora. Summer .. 1997." he said softly, "We had a son in spring of the next year--he's ten now. He couldn't hold his head up the last time I saw him--his name is Teddy." he said, was that too much? This all felt like too much. Remus fell silent then, not sure what else he was supposed to say.
