It had been a busy morning for Kermit. But not through any fault of his own, really. He'd got dressed that morning, ready to brave the cold and go see what the local shops had to offer. Blaise had been off organising things for the wedding, and Kermit, for some reason, wasn't allowed to go with him. But he didn't take it personally if only because he wasn't the sort of person to be fazed by that kind of thing. He was sure that he'd meet people when the time was right.
So, he'd left the house and started his walk. Not far, only up the road because he had a soft spot for pasta and wondered about finding some fresh things that could help him with that. But he'd had to stop because there, on the street corner, had been the teeniest, tiniest puppy he'd ever seen in his life, all dark curls, big eyes and freezing cold and it had made Kermit's heart break.
He'd bundled the puppy up immediately, cast the best warming charm he could summon with his own mind unhelpfully uttering words like "make puppy warm", and then he'd gone straight back to the house with the tiny dog safe in his coat. Kermit had taken the coat off simply so the puppy could wear it instead.
Once home, he'd bathed the puppy, put him in a hot bath, then dried him by the fire and fed him every bit of ham in the fridge. And then he'd decided he'd keep him and then had decided to ask Blaise for his permission.
Very pleased with himself now that he'd all but given in to Kermit's demands, he'd put some oil he'd summoned from home that worked on not only his own hair but on Marmalade's too, and had combed it through the puppy's now soft fur, humming as his curls stood out just as well if not better than the Beater's own. Luca was going to look perfect to meet Blaise, because he was already a sweetheart.
Then Kermit made two large mugs of hot chocolate and went to find his boyfriend, Luca running about at his heels as though he belonged there.
He found Blaise, or rather, a big cat that could only be his Blaisey, in the living room, and Kermit, rather than hesitate, strode on over and then flopped down by him, placing Blaise's mug of hot chocolate out of reach because they had a puppy now and balancing his own mug on his stomach, watching with some amusement as the puppy approached as though unafraid of anything and booped the big, black cat on the nose with a paw.
