RP: Spoon's Birthday
Who: Rolf and Rose
When: 25. July 2008 - afternoon
Where: Their flat and The Beastiary
What: Rose… baked for Rolf’s birthday
Warnings: TBD
Mrs. Cojocaru made it look easy, Miss Bobbin made it look even easier, but baking was hard. Well, maybe not so much the baking as the mixing. Technically, Rose supposed, that the mixing could be easier if she hadn’t had a cat swiping at the whisk and a wiggle drooling on her feet while she did it. But decorating the cakes! Yes! That was difficult. That was what really frustrated her, because Rose could draw items with photographic likeness on a piece of parchment but she couldn’t make perfect swirls – swirls! – on three cupcakes?
Besides, the frosting had separated, making it grainy and runny and not at all delicious looking – in fact, it looked rather disgusting, and it was just… Rose sighed. Final attempt, and if that didn’t work, she’d walk down and pick something up from Sweet Nothings herself, and have Miss Bobbin write something on it.
An hour later, the kitchen was a mess, Bast was eyeing the oven suspiciously, Ant was growling at half a lemon and Rose had flour on her leather skirt, butter on her fitted t-shirt and pink buttercream in her hair. When had she used pink? It wasn’t important. It was now or never, because if she didn’t do it now, she had a feeling that the six poppy-seed and lemon cupcakes, sparsely decorated, would either melt or start sprouting frosting fountains before she got them to Rolf.
Because, it was Rolf’s birthday, and he should be celebrated properly. So what if it had taken her all day, since he went downstairs this morning, to get this far. She’d done it.
With a big grin, flour, buttercream and all, she backed into the store and spotted Rolf almost immediately.
“Happy birthday to you!” She started singing, and continued, nodding in encouragement when the other guy working today started singing along.
