Re: Theo & Calypso
Calypso had never been told this in her life. She always had to do as her mother said, it was law. Oya was head of the family, what she said goes. Calypso had always had Blaise as her voice of reason, he always tried to show Calypso that she didn’t have to act a certain way or speak a certain way to men, especially her brother. He had helped show Calypso that their mother’s way of thinking men should be treated was not how they should actually be treated. That was as far as the Oya training had gone, it was known by all three of her children that they were expected to do whatever it was their mother deemed important. Ministry balls were always important to Oya. Calypso would have felt so much better going to the Halloween Masquerade, mostly for the fact that she would know her mother wasn’t expecting her to be there. She was expected to be at the ministry ball.
After a deep breath she looked over at Theo, she wanted to kiss his cheek. She didn’t know if he still had a person bubble though, so she instead just gave him a real, genuine, smile. “Thank you, Theo.” She said in a soft voice. “It means a lot… My mother expects me to be here though, I have to show my face for at least a little while.” And wouldn’t Oya be pleased? Calli would be coming in on the arm of another Pure Blood. She hoped this would make Oya put off any questions about when Calypso was going to start thinking about marriage. Maybe if it got back to Oya that she had come with Theodore Nott the trip to Italy in a month or two would be quiet. “Would you mind if we maybe… Left early?” Her voice was very soft as she asked, almost tentative. She rarely let her guards down this much. If it had been anyone else Calypso was sure she’d have laughed off his words and made it all one big joke, but it was Theo and he was family. She owed it to him to be honest with him, as much as she could be anyway. “It isn’t you, I really want you to know that. I just don’t feel very much like going to a ministry ball. I don’t feel very much like myself lately.” And that was the truth of it, something she’d still yet to tell her brother.
