Luna hadn’t realized Draco would take it as the world was out to get him. She had meant it in such a generic everyone had bad luck that she didn’t realize he’d instantly think that the world was out to get him. It was why she looked confused, a usual look for her, as she said, “Well… Yes.” She had hoped that it’d help but it seemed to make Draco feel worse. She let out a soft huff, there wasn’t much she could do and she wouldn’t sit and debate with Draco over why it should make him feel better. That wasn’t her job right now. Her job right now was to produce a patronus so that they could get out of the cloakroom.
“I know you’re here!” Luna sounded just a bit exasperated with him when she said it. “It’s kind of hard to miss you in this small space. Just… Give me a minute, please.” It was almost pleading, she had wanted to tell him to shut up but instead had settled with asking him to just give her a minute. That’s all she needed. He wasn’t helping matters at all. She had to focus on literally anything but the man that was trapped in the small space with her.
She shut her eyes again then and took a few deep breaths. If he could stay quiet, she could get a patronus to someone. She tried to focus, she focused on the memory of being squished up against Michael on the couch at the bookstore. She focused on what it had felt like when he’d put the watch on her wrist, when he’d shown her what a hologram was, and what it’d felt like to have him explain his invention to her. “Expecto Patronum.” She said again, a little more force to it this time. It seemed to work this time as a little hare shot out of the end of her wand and went bounding off, out the door that wouldn’t open for the pair trapped inside. Good, now they just had to wait.
“There. Thank you.” She said as she watched her patronus leaving.
