Re: Theo & Calypso
"I wouldn't offer if I wasn't able to provide." he said seriously, wanting to give Calypso any kind of out that he could and not caring enough to stand on social niceties when her comfort was on the line. He knew things were more complex and complicated between Calypso and her mother to himself and his father, but he couldn't help but think briefly that maybe things would have been different if someone had offered him a similar way out early enough. He had no issues with being around the viper that was Mrs Zabini; he could play the polite party guest around people he hated and had grown up acting like nothing was wrong. Plus there were all the protection charms he had about his person and the fact that he wouldn't accept food or drink from the woman unless he knew it wasn't poisoned. He'd gladly be more cautious to help Calypso out.
He was still concerned about Calypso's worrying statement but he supposed that it could just be some part of getting older, or maturing or something, that desire to settle down with someone that he'himself had entertained only as a fairytale for himself. It didn't sound like his friend had lost any zeal for life itself, which was reassuring. Hearing her speak and being pretty sure that 'her' didn't refer to Oya, Theo knew that this was where Calypso's contentment lay, for the present anyway. "They don't sound silly to me." he promised. "And as far as dates go, I don't think I could have a better one." he ended with a smile. It was strange to see the young girl seem so depleted and Theo hoped whoever this mystery girl was, that she'd do Callie some good.
He was confused and surprised to be presented with a gift though, taking the watch out of the little pouch and marveling over the tiny mechanisms and detailing that had gone into it. "It's perfect." he assured, stroking his thumb over the clock face. "Thank you Callie. You really didn't have to though, I think technically I'm supposed to bring something for you." he said a little self-recriminating, most of his attention still fixed on the watch. "But it's lovely, thank you."
