RP: The Inaugural Ball Who: Everyone's invited! When: 10/21/08 Evening Where: Hogwarts, Great Hall What: The Inaugural Ball of Kingsley's re-election. Warnings: TBD
The Hogwarts Great Hall had been transformed. The black and white motif was a stark contrast to the golds and silvers of the room, and the whole thing had a sort of... formal feeling to it. Kingsley had been impressed. The Communications Department had worked with Charming Parties and some specialists at all hours, straight since the Election to make tonight happen. He was touched.
There were hundreds of assorted individual cakes from Sweet Nothings lining a banquet table to one side, a big band set up at the front of the room on an elevated stage, and a long bar running opposite the sweets, along with smaller wine and beer stations throughout the room. The center was set with a dance floor, and along the outside of the dance floor were dozens of 8-top round tables, for the guests.
Overall, Kingsley could hardly believe all of this was in his honor. He preferred to think it was to honor the system - their democracy, their society, their community. And that was what he'd been telling himself all day. The red carpet procession seemed be coming to an end, and he took to the microphone to say a few quick words of welcome. He'd give a formal speech later in the night, but for now he wanted people to simply feel welcome and enjoy themselves. There was loud applause and he had a feeling most of the people in the room had supported him, but he made a point to thank his opponents for their service and their love of country and community as well, which was met with nearly as raucous replies from the crowd. He smiled, a big genuine grin, and then gave the magic microphone over to the leader of the brass band and left the stage. It had been ten years since their world had nearly been torn apart, and tonight they would celebrate the return to the normal. Yes, Kingsley was touched.
