There was some small comfort to be had in the way his fingers threaded between her own, and she curled her hand against his a bit more firmly. She squeezed his hand gently at his reassurance, not thinking it was necessary to point out that she'd never thought he was the sort of man to abandon her entirely in this adventure. "Well, we do have time to sort all of that out," she pointed out instead. There was no rush, especially as it wasn't even official just yet.
"Thank you," she murmured, pleased that he thought so.
"Would you like to eat now? I kept it on warm in the oven so we could have the meal together," she admitted, cheeks tinging a bit. But even before this surprise, she'd enjoyed the time they'd been spending together, and she quite selfishly wanted more of it. But though it would hurt her if he wanted some time and space from her to sort out his own head, she would try to be understanding.
