"Those were my thoughts exactly," she agreed with a smile as she gave the soup another good stir. A timer went off for the bread, and she pulled out her wand, flicking it to bring the bread out and onto a cutting board. A few more spells later and the bread was sliced into good-sized chunks and sent to the table with a dish of butter and knife in case they wanted it. She dished out the soup, sending the bowls to the table next.
"I haven't got many choices for drinks," she said apologetically. She didn't have any alcohol in the flat as a rule, as she was more tempted to binge drink if she kept it around, and she really didn't want it to evolve into a problem. But there was water and juice and a few fizzy drinks. Or she could make them some tea to go with the meal.
