Re: Robert and Dora
Dora credited her strong Scottish genes for her drinking ability, even when she didn't do it nearly so often anymore. She had a rather stout constitution whe it came to drinking and it often started people when she was with them. It took more than a little to fell her or incapacitate her.
she would have been startled if he had answered her question like that. Especially since she fell firmly into that category, and he'd been nothing but perfectly cordial and gentlemanly thus far, and she expected nothing less, for she hadn't gotten the vibe off him at all that he was looking or interested. It didn't bother her, really, since she knew dating was the last thing she should think of. She tended to stay tightly focussed on her family and the shop and her various little enterprises that earned her money and some measure of enjoyment.
"Yes, those," she said. "It's hard to imagine for me kissing someone like you see on the television, and there not actually being anything there." Of course, in some ways she was an intensely private person, and her husband, while affectionate and kind, had definitely not been prone to displays of affection. Anything she may have done previously had largely been done while drunk and out of it. "Though I can believe the compartamenalizing." That was something she was thoroughly familiar with in her real life.
"I'm not a terribly creative person in such a way, and it's simply difficult for me to imagine at times," she explained, so he wouldn't think she was being a completely nosey twat, but simply striving to wrap her mind about it. "The extent of my acting tends to be pretending I'm not ready to kill half the world when I don't have enough coffee and I'm forced to man the front of the shop." It was only partially a joke, but it was told in good humor.
