As it so happened, Robert was still awake. The storm had been wrecking havoc on his joints, though he'd worked hard not to let on to anyone and was resolutely avoiding any pain potions. And so, sleep was elusive, and he was flipping through some news on his phone when the text came in. He couldn't deny--to himself, at least--the way his heart jumped in his throat when he saw her name, and he had to remind himself again that she was a married woman.
