Her arms crept around him belatedly, but they held him tightly. And when he suggested that that they move the the room, she nodded against his chest. She took a deep breath and pulled away, already feeling embarrassed but also overemotional. She couldn't quite get a grasp on them, and she thought she knew why now.
She followed without argument, dabbing at her eyes carefully with her sleeve. She wasn't quite crying, but she wasn't quite not crying either. She went to the chair and sat on it, and then after a moment she curled up a bit, a more protective position, her arms wrapping around her middle.
"I'm a mess. Don't mind me," she said, fingers smoothing back her hair, or at least trying to.
