Septimus paused for a moment. The babies are adorable. He thought so, of course, as all his babies were. But no one else in all the world had ever described every single one of the dragons in his sanctuary as such. Because to do so would be mild madness and to feel as though one had a responsibility to each and every one of them as he felt. Luna, therefore, must have taken him to mean something else. For once, he managed to leap in and correct her before things could get too confused. "That's to say, they're all my babies. Even my beautiful alpha snoozing with both eyes open in the back there," he said, gesturing to Lumina's real mother who was bathing in the sun on a rock, large and imposing as all females of her kind were. The reason she slept with eyes open, well, that was simply down to the fact that she was currently defending her territory.
"No idea, other than he might want to take over, but he's shown no signs of challenging her position yet, so... who can know. I'm going to be keeping an eye on it until something happens, so I don't expect I'll be going home any time soon," he said thoughtfully, sounding unphased because he really wasn't bothered about whether he went home or not. His work and babies were just too important to him. "I should write Ella a note," he said, to himself more than anything.
