Network: Remember Friends
Who: Astoria and Callie
When: June 20, 2009 [backdated]
What: Astoria reaches out to Callie about her concert
Warnings: Awkwardness?
Public/Private: Private
MM to Callie: I miss you. I know I've been a terrible friend this month, but I hope you'll forgive me
MM to Callie: After that birdie article though I suppose I withdrew a bit but I just wasn't ready to share my relationship with him with everyone else yet
MM to Callie: How have you been?
MM to Astoria: You've not been a bad friend, I've been busy too. It's perfectly fine, no need to apologize.
MM to Astoria: Are you alright? Are you and Blaise alright, after the article I mean?
MM to Astoria: I'm doing well. It seems mother noticed I wasn't at the gala. She hasn't said a word to me yet but then again I've not left the house in weeks and her howlers burst just outside the wards...
MM to Astoria: I do feel a bit guilty about something and I don't really... understand why. It isn't really my fault.
MM to Callie: We're just fine, I'm not upset with Blaise for the article anymore
MM to Callie: Oh good Merlin. Hopefully she will leave you be. The gala was dreadfully boring, as usual, though it was made immensely better having Kit there with me
MM to Callie: Do you? Is it something you'd like to talk about?
MM to Astoria: He means well. The birdie seems to be losing their touch though.
MM to Astoria: It's actually the birdie... I told Blaise to start using her again but I feel like every article has slammed her. I know it isn't his doing anymore but I feel this compulsion to ask him to pull back.. It isn't so bad though.
MM to Astoria: It's things she's been doing on her own. Public things. I'm sure I'm still to blame though. Big bad Calypso.
MM to Astoria: I'm sorry. I'm the worst. I'm glad you enjoyed the gala. Kit has always been a good dancer. oh that means she knows kit isn't my "boyfriend" anymore. Fuck.
MM to Callie: I can't say I'm disappointed the Birdie hasn't seemed as ruthless of late. You know I wish the column would disappear entirely.
MM to Callie: Oh. Well, honestly, as you said, it's things she's doing herself in public, therefore you're entirely not to blame. Yes, you told Blaise the Birdie could include her in the gossip again, but you didn't force Ginny to do things that could be gossiped about.
MM to Callie: You are not the worst, not even close.
MM to Astoria: It may go away if it gets worse, I'm sure. Maybe they gained a conscious..
MM to Astoria: Doesn't feel that way often enough.
MM to Astoria: How have you been? Anything fantastic going on?
MM to Callie: Somehow I doubt that. The type of person that would write that tripe likely has no conscience.
MM to Callie: I've been well. And yes, actually! I'm not sure if you saw the advertisement in the paper for it, but we're having a concert on Sunday. I would love it if you would come!
MM to Astoria: I debated doing it once. It was too much work, I don't like being forced into social situations to get dirt.
MM to Astoria: I didn't I've been avoiding all mail... sorry I'm the worst.
MM to Astoria: I would love to, it's been far too long. I'll figure out how to shake the howlers before then.
MM to Callie: Did you really? Callie! Oh. I never thought it could have been you writing it.
MM to Callie: Oh good! It really has been.
MM to Callie: How is training going? I was thinking of coming by for some fur time with Blaise soon :)
MM to Astoria: I assume there's people that think it's me. I don't get out nearly enough for that though
MM to Astoria: I'm not anywhere near fur time. I broke far too many things yesterday I can feel something though. Something changes.
MM to Astoria: not that I can see it but I can feel it. It's worse than learning to apparate. I'll never forgot those.
MM to Astoria: I picked it up quick though. One of the first in my class.
MM to Callie: You'll get there though! It took me ages to finally be able to transition. Something changing is the first step :)
MM to Callie: I feel like learning to apparate was tremendously easier than learning to be an animagus. And remember, so many people never even get close to being able to change, so honestly, don't be too hard on yourself if it takes a while to manage it.
MM to Astoria: you missed your calling. You'd have been an amazing life coach. ;)
MM to Astoria: why exactly are we talking about my hermit lifestyle? It's as exciting as talking about theo's hermit lifestyle. It's not.
MM to Astoria: what else is going on besides the concert?
MM to Callie: Oh, I highly doubt that! I would have to be good with people to do that.
MM to Callie: Because I'm your friend and I'm interested in what's going on in your life, whether you find it dull or not.
MM to Callie: There's really nothing terribly exciting going on in my life either. My parents are getting rather insistent about having Kit over for dinner soon. I'm not sure I'll be able to put them off much longer.
MM to Astoria: take your own advice. Even if you find it dull, I want to know.
MM to Astoria: At least you'll be making them happy, right?
MM to Astoria: I'm sure it'll go wonderfully. They've wanted you to find a nice wizard and you did. I'm sure you don't have much to worry about.
MM to Astoria: You could flip the script. Host a small dinner party and invite them, Kit, and anyone else who makes you comfortable. Blaise is very good at those sort of things, you know. He can provide subtle and innocent distractions.
MM to Astoria: That way they met Kit and you don't feel like they were interrogating you.
MM to Callie: Well yes, but that's the problem! I'm certain they'll approve of him, and that means they'll be utterly ridiculous about putting pressure on him and I to more things along faster than either of us are prepared for or comfortable with.
MM to Callie: I care for him a great deal, but
MM to Callie: Oh, that is brilliant! I think that is something I absolutely should do.
MM to Callie: Thank you so much for giving me that idea. Hopefully having a group about will ensure things stay polite and appropriate.
MM to Astoria: You're more than welcome, I'm glad I was able to help!
MM to Astoria: Just don't invite me, please?
MM to Astoria: You'll just have to be sure to tell your friends to not leave until your parents do, that way they can't corner you after everyone leaves. Maybe make plans to go out for drinks with someone afterwards?
MM to Callie: Oh, of course! It would defeat the purpose of my throwing a dinner party.
MM to Callie: I'll sort it all out after my concert, I think.
MM to Astoria: You'll have to let me know how your party goes! :)
MM to Callie: Ahh, I suppose that means you don't want to come?
MM to Callie: Of course I will.
