Despite the rough start to things, this trip was proving to be everything Genevieve had hoped it would be when Oliver had first invited her. She hadn't expected to sleep with him the first night, but after she'd admitted to him why she was so off -at least part of it, anyway- she'd finally been able to relax into things and live in the moment. It was where she felt most normal and happy, and it had been easy to get swept up in kissing Oliver and then going back to the hotel with him.
And then, he'd completely surprised her with how incredibly passionate and generous he was. It was late by the time he'd fallen asleep, and though she'd felt sated and relaxed, she hadn't been able to fall asleep, her body still very much on UK time. And so, she tugged on his shirt and her knickers and grabbed her phone and a bottle of water and slipped out onto the balcony. It was a cool night, but it felt good as she curled up on a chair. The view really was fantastic, and she felt no regret over giving up her own room to stay in this one with him, which she would deal with tomorrow morning at some point, she was sure.
She wanted to gush with someone about how fantastic a time she was having, and though she knew some might find it strange, her sister was her best friend, and she was the one she wanted to talk to about it.
MM to Addi 1:22am: Omg Ad, Oliver is amazing
MM to Addi 1:22am: I didn't expect to end up in his room this soon, but I did and there isn't even a small part of me that's disappointed about it :)
This past weekend had been fun in a way she'd been missing for months. Addi wasn't even disappointed that she hadn't hooked up with anyone, because hanging out with Coop, having her big brother back even if he still wasn't back with Vieve yet, had been better in some ways. But when she'd found him in an emotional moment and he'd made that comment about the baby, about how the baby would have been born about now, something had shattered in her.
Oh, some might think her flighty and a bit daft in serious matters, but that was far from true. She was intelligent and quick on the uptake. It hadn't been a leap to realize that Vieve had been pregnant nine or so months ago and lost the baby. And though she'd been furious to find out like this, she was more hurt that Genevieve hadn't told her at the time it happened. A part of her had wanted to go back to Provence and yell at her, but even she knew that wasn't the right thing to do.
But she was still hurt, and she didn't really want to talk to Vieve, so when the text came in, she read it with a sigh.
MM to Vieve 1:23am: That's great.
That was... not the sort of response Gen had been expecting. It wasn't like Addi at all, and her brow furrowed in concern. She'd thought for sure that Addi would be excited and want to know all the steamy details.
MM to Addi 1:25am: Are you all right?
MM to Vieve 1:26am: Fine. Just busy at work.
MM to Addi 1:27am: Are you sure?
MM to Vieve 1:28am: Yep. Have fun, I'll see you when you're back.
Gen sighed and set her phone down on the chair next to her feet, resting her chin on her knees as she looked out over the water. As gorgeous and distracting as the view should have been, she couldn't shake the uneasy feeling that her sister was upset with her for some unknown reason. There was no point in trying to work it out right now, though. Addi wouldn't talk to her if she didn't want to, and it was always better to deal with these things in person with her sister. So, she would leave Addi be the rest of the week and just talk to her on Saturday after she got back home.
She stayed out on the balcony for a little bit longer, until the chill in the air had her shivering faintly. And then she ducked back in the room and slipped into the bed, still wearing Oliver's shirt and curling up against him, smiling as he shifted in his sleep to curl an around around her. As long as she didn't let herself get stuck in her head, she rather thought this week would continue to be fantastic.
