Taking a deep breath before venturing past just small talk, Hannah crossed her arms on the table. "Ten years. Right after I finished school. I was stayingn with a friend and I needed a job. Old Tom was retiring and he hired me. I still don't know why," she said with a nervous laugh, but it was true.
With a nod, she could tell he was trying to reassure her, that he wouldn't be going away again. His memory came into her vision again, when he'd said he promised to come back and that he never wanted to leave. She had to try to push the apprehension and nerves away and out of her body completely. "I just meant to thank you. It was hard at first, I had to work for about seven years to start training. But I'm almost there." She just had to get through finals, a couple summer courses and then two whole years, but it would be well worth it.
"I have to apologize to you. The night you told me who you were, with Seamus. I overreacted. I felt a little ... ambushed really, and I needed time to think." Hannah had steeled herself before leaving the flat but now that she was face to face with the man who had openly wept saying goodbye to her, she was getting a little weepy herself. "I'm sorry. I didn't know."
