Re: Quin and Gen
Gen watched with just a touch of pride as Geoffrey laughed and adjusted his hold on the toddler so that Felix might think he had more freedom in the water than he actually did, all while still ensuring nothing awful happened. Considering he was the baby of the family, with no nieces or nephews yet, she was definitely proud that he had any instincts with young children at all. Which, she realized belatedly, might be a somewhat sexist sentiment, though she hadn't meant it as such.
"It's in their blood," Gen responded ominously before laughing a bit. "Honestly, I think I'd be terribly disappointed if my children didn't love the water. Or the sky," she added almost belatedly. But flying was such an integral part of her life, she knew she would likely be disappointed if any of her future children hated flying, even if she would try her best to encourage whatever their natural talents and inclinations leaned toward.
Gen waved a hand at Quin's initial protest, not thinking it true in the least. Certainly, Quin was calmer, quieter, gentler than her, but that didn't make her any less interesting. This romance with Lance, for example, she found very interesting. "You're hardly boring, cheri," she said at first, waving a hand.
Her nose wrinkled at the mention of things going sideways with house hunting, feeling for her friend. "Oh, I don't blame you! Hiring my realtor was the best decision ever after... well, when I needed to find my place at the beginning of the year." Once she needed to come back to the UK after the holidays, after she and Cooper had broken up, her things having been removed from his place and kept in storage for a time until the realtor had helped her find her cottage. But as much as she loved her little slice of cottage-heaven, she knew that she missed the flat, missed sharing her space and her life... with him. But that was her past, she reminded herself, and it was only her past for good reason. It was better, she knew, to focus on her future, which at least in the immediate sense included Oliver.
