Genevieve Vipond ([info]vievenvol) wrote in [info]vrrpg,
And when Coop danced her sister over to where she stood and did that silly, dramatic little stunt, she found herself laughing and shaking her head. God, he'd always known how to make her laugh, and remembering that had her wanting to run away and cry, which was utterly ridiculous! And yet, her heart twisted in a way that told her she was going to have to mourn him again, which was something she'd thought was long behind her. "I... don't think that's a good idea, Coop," she said regretfully, though her body did take a rebellious step closer to him.

“Alright, if it’s a bad idea...” Even if he had caught her stepping closer to him. He doubted it was lost on Addi as well. “Will you at least walk me to the point?” He knew the dance had been potentially a bad idea, he had prepared for her to tell him not now. There would be more nights, he hoped. Maybe in London. There would be so many times that their paths would cross, he just had to hope that this new girl of Hype’s loved going out because it would give them plenty of opportunities for more dances in the future.

He held a hand out for Gen then, “I promise to be on my best behavior.” He knew taking her away from the festival area was likely another dangerous idea to Gen. He wanted it to seem as harmless as ever. He knew if he seemed overly anxious that he might ruin the only chance he would get for a goodnight kiss. He had no idea how he was going to find the self-control to stop after just one kiss. He knew he’d want to take her back to his hotel, he already even knew the joke he’d make, but he couldn’t take her home. He had to let her go home to Addi and mull it all over. He just really hoped he could pull it all off.

Although there were a million reasons to say no and she did hesitate before answering, it was the brief glance at her sister's enthusiastic and encouraging expression that finally had her sighing and saying, "Oh, all right then." There was no doubt that this was a bad idea, too, and it would put her somewhat alone with him, which was dangerous in a way she didn't want to acknowledge.

Gen wasn't sure she believed he would be able to keep that promise, as she knew him too well, but she did hope he would try. And if he didn't? Then she would have to stay strong to her resolve to not let anything stir up between them again.

Coop let his head tip down, looking at his shoes to hide the ridiculous smile he knew was on his face. He didn’t want her to see it, he didn’t want her to have any reason to think that he was up to anything else. He was going to be good, he wasn’t going to make this significantly worse. If he went in for the kiss and she turned away? Well... He supposed that would seal the deal for him. He’d have to move on at that point, or at least try to check himself. If she turned away… He knew he’d assume that this thing with Wood was real and going someplace.

He looked back at her a moment later and nodded his head. “Thank you.” He turned to Addi then, enveloping her in another chest crushing hug for a moment, murmuring a soft “Keep in touch,” before she was set down and his full attention was on Gen now. Instead of taking her hand, he looped their arms, and playfully bumped his hip against her’s before he started them on the way away from the square, away from the lights and noise of the people. The streets were a little more deserted since most were at the festival.

“Your dress is beautiful.” He was making polite conversation. “Did Addi pick it out for tonight?” He was going to do his best to be normal, he assumed other friends would comment no how pretty it was. He was allowed too.
