Who: Blaise & Calypso What: More Brotherly Advice When: May 10th (backdated) Where: Blaise's Office Warnings: More brotherly advice, helping Callie move on
It had been a few days since Saturday, and while Callie was still mortified enough by the entire thing to be avoiding seeing Astoria just yet… She knew she needed to see Blaise. She didn’t want to stay home any longer to wallow. She wanted to get out this weekend, see about tagging along to the Quidditch finales, and turn in her travel piece. At least.. The pieces were an excuse to go see him. Calypso didn’t want to talk about Saturday… Though she had a feeling that the second Blaise saw her, he’d try. It was why she had come to his office, hopeful he might not mention it there. She knew the chances of that were slim, his office was made for keeping secrets. Still, she was going to try.
Just after lunch, Calypso showed up at Blaise’s office. She had debated bringing lunch, but really she had just gotten home from her morning run before she left. She hadn’t wanted to eat and if she watched Blaise eat, she knew she might be sick. Her stomach had been a mess of emotions for a few days now, just enough to create that nausea when she wasn’t hungry.
Since she was hoping to go unnoticed, and not bump into Astoria, she had showed up in just a pair of those muggle yoga pants, with a large white cotton tee that came down to her knees, cinched at her tiny waist with a black belt. Her short locks were left in their natural little curls, a bit of a poofed out mess, though her sunglasses were now resting in said mess on the top of her head. She had worn them up until the point that she had stepped into his office. If she had a ball cap, she likely would have worn it in her attempt at going unnoticed. She was just relieved that Blaise hadn’t had any appointments and she was allowed to just walk right in.
“You’re going to the finales, right?” She asked, already moving to fall into a chair. She knew her behavior since Saturday night had been a bit suspect, she was spending all of her free time focusing on her animagi training with Blaise. When she wasn’t wrapped up in that she seemed to be doing some sort of exercise, something to keep herself busy. Her yoga had turned into Piyo, her morning run was getting longer and longer each time she went, she was spending hours doing laps in the pond… She was doing anything to quiet her mind.
Blaise looked up and immediately set aside what he was working on. Nothing that important, honestly. He could pick it up again later, but his sister didn't usually come in looking quite so much like this. He was still getting used to her hair. It was cute, but a change he was still adjusting to.
He'd not been poking too hard at her the past few days, instead giving her plenty of distractions with her training since that seemed to be what she needed -- for now. He would poke when it seemed the right time.
"Of course. Not going to miss that game unless something big happened," he said easily. "It's going to be epic. You are coming with me, right?" he asked. He wanted her to, of course, the game would be awesome.
The second he just assumed she was coming with him had her relaxing into the chair, her entire demeanor softening. "Please? I... Things are so weird and I'm a bit certain it's all my fault.." Calypso wondered what was the best way to start it, she stretched her legs out and gave a lazy sort of shrug. "I don't know if I should ask how much you know first or just spill my guts... We both know I love hearing my own voice, so I'll just spill my side." At least, as much as she knew. She realized she knew such a small pool compared to what she could have. She had turned down Astoria telling her that night, she couldn't handle it on top of everything else. She had asked for a raincheck. She still needed to cash in on it.
"I was a bit too excited to see her at the party," She still wouldn't say her name though. She knew Blaise's wards were some of the best, but just in case. He would know she was talking about anyway. "I got a new dress, and.. The clue should have been that she didn't reach out to me either those weeks after." She let out a soft sigh, feeling tears already filling her eyes. She had cried enough about this, she wasn't going to keep doing it. She was being ridiculous. "When Kit and I went up to her at the bar, she lit up... She wouldn't look at me though, and you can imagine how it went from there. I had to say something, I ran my mouth and pointed out that she wouldn't even look at me." Her head shook then, her eyes moving to her lap. These were the parts she was still a bit mortified about but she knew she had to own up to it. She had done it, she couldn't lie about it. "The only thing that stopped a very large scene was Kit escorting us out," Where Astoria had scolded her. That still sat so strangely. It had crushed her then, it still hurt now. She squirmed uncomfortably at the thought. "She set me straight, she isn't attracted to me. I felt so...." She rolled her eyes, though they still were focused on her lap. Her cheeks even had some color to them, a blush that could barely be seen with her dark complexion. "I went upstairs and went to bed afterwards. You know the rest."
She finally lifted her watery eyes to him, "I'm sorry. I think I messed a lot of things up. I know I should have waited for you to come home but.." She couldn't wait. She nervously shifted again, her eyes falling again. She was feeling mortified all over again. "I didn't even get to talk to Lilian." Her tone likely gave way that she was just realizing this. She needed to send a message to Lilian, she owed her new friend so many apologies.
Blaise came around the desk and sat in the other chair so he could be right there next to her. Sometimes he was still reminded of how young she really was, though he always tried to treat her as if she were all adult because honestly that had always seemed to work the best. With him, anymore, she usually was, though she was also his little sister who he always cuddled and always would.
He listened as she let it all out. It was always best that way with her, or she'd get caught up with soething else and not finish. "Darling," he said gently, "I sincerely doubt it's a lack of attraction but rather a lack of desire for something long term. You know me... there can be continued attraction without a relationship or even another encounter of that nature."
He reached out both his hands to her, and took hers in them, tugging so she'd come over and possibly sit on his lap like the little sister she was. "Things are not as bad as you think, Callie-girl," he murmured to her softly. "It's all blown up in your head right now because it just happened and it's so new and so painful and raw. But things are not so bad as all that, I promise. Perhaps you made a mistake. But that's all right. It wasn't just you, after all. And it can be smoothed over and time and some effort will make it better again."
Her head bobbed in a nod at his words, and with that first tug she was up and moving. Her chest felt tight in a way she wasn't familiar with. She climbed into his lap, curling up as much as she could. She even tucked her head in, resting it on his shoulder. It was incredibly childish but it made that tightness not hurt so much.
"I can't seem to get it right. This feels miserable. How do you make it go away?" She brought a hand up to idly trace a heart over his heart. "At the party, she said there was things she needed to explain. I asked her to wait, I was so mortified." She let out a soft sigh then, "Please tell me this gets better?"
It was likely odd to others but Calypso had needed this. He was always able to calm her storms, no matter how bad they seemed. She felt a few tears slip then, she reached up to quickly wipe under one eye.
He tucked her into his lap as he'd done since she was a tiny child in need of comfort when their mother or her father did something to upset her. She was bigger now, but not so big that she didn't still fit. His arms wrapped around her and he rubbed her back. He didn't find it childish, per se. She was simply still his little sister who sometimes still needed her big brother, and he liked that she still needed him sometimes.
"You simply work through it, and time helps with the rest, dearheart," he murmured. His lips pressed to her temple. "But I promise you it does get better." And she'd know he never made promises lightly.
Calypso would hate the day, if it ever came, that Blaise told her she was too big for this sort of thing. She let out a soft little sigh, not of comfort but more a noise that she had found some peace there in his arms. “That’s the worst advice, isn’t there a trick to it all? Something I could do?” She was being a brat and she knew it, she just never seemed to have any patience with anything. This was nothing different. “What helps after break ups?”
“I promise that I’m going to try very hard to not make things worse somehow. Astoria isn’t just one of your closest friends, but one of mine too. I don’t want to mess any of this stuff up.” She didn’t know why she felt the need to promise him, but she worried. “How are you? I’m being selfish.” She mumbled while she continued to move her fingertips over his heart, tracing little shapes of fish and things. It was to keep herself distracted, she wanted to cry more. She knew it was ridiculous and it was why she had wanted to meet him at the office, to prevent more tears.
"I tend to sleep around a bit, if you haven't noticed," he said wryly. Of course Calypso knew, though he'd not really taken anyone home. He'd been avoiding that. But it wasn't as if he kept his doings secret either. "But it's not for everyone, so don't necessarily follow in my error laden footsteps," he told her.
"You'll get it right, I know you will," he murmured. He had faith in her, and despite her problems and her youth, he'd always given her that faith. His hands pet her hair, hoping to make her feel at least a bit better.
Calypso gave a soft laugh at his words, nodding her head. "I know." She murmured, letting out a soft sigh. "It might not hurt to try. I've never actually enjoyed sex in ages, I finally figured out what I want.. It's not a bad idea to maybe get out there." She let out a soft sigh, melting just a bit more into him. "Thank you." She brought her hand up to lightly tap on his chest. She fully intended to stay just a little longer, catch up with Blaise and wait until she knew she wouldn't run into Astoria when she left.
