Comment Posted Successfully Her hand was not an unwelcomed guest to his, and Oliver's strong fingers closed around her hand, wanting to hold it for just a few moments longer - a few minutes more wouldn't add any more harm onto this rapidly deteriorating situation, right?
Oliver allowed himself to be led through the crowd, casting a few curious looks from patrons by the bar who recognized the two players hurriedly passing through. They burst into the cool, dark night, the air waking Oliver up like a plunge into cold water. The crowd waiting to get in whispered excitedly to one another at the the appearance of the two: mostly in awe of seeing two sports stars mere feet from them after the game of the year.
The world revolved slowly around Oliver, making him feel queasy. He didn't care about the crowd or the headlines that might appear in tomorrow's paper, because it was important Genevieve understand this wasn't about her. Not negatively, anyway. He shook his blond head, regretting the decision, and looked into her eyes.
"No, no. If I walk you home..." Apparently that was his thing for cheating on Romilda. "Look, you dinnae do nothing wrong." He spoke hurriedly, tripping over the Scottish accent on a few words here and there. "Things between Romilda and I are - eh - they're no'sa good, but this isn't me. I don't do this." Of course Oliver was angry, but at himself. How had he lost so much self control in such a short amount of time? He reached up to brush back a strand of Genevieve's blonde hair when a voice rang out.
"Oliver." Jenn, with controlled fury etched into her plain features, stormed up to the two of them, still carrying her drink and covered in glitter. Oliver dropped his hand with a tired jerk, guilt written all over his face. "Get inside. I don't want fans bothering you." Jenn didn't even look to her star player, focusing on the other woman.
Oliver looked over to Genevieve one last time, burning the memory of her in that beautiful dress into his brain, and walked away. Jenn still stood, waiting until he was safely inside to speak.
"I think it's time you go. back. to. your team." She spoke slowly and with intention.
