RP: Muggle Meetings
Who: ZJ & Kit What: Meeting a muggle When: April 27th (backdated!) Where: Art exhibit Warnings: Light flirting, eye rolls, and laughter.
He was at his professorial best since he was supposedly here at the art fair in that role. Granted his professorial best still tended to be something that looked like he had just stepped off the page of a magazine featuring sexy professors.
Of course, he'd ditched the jacket to help Jackie set up earlier since the University had several different booths at this thing featuring different artists. He even had some stuff, smaller and in his opinion not very great or representative of his work, both pottery and painting. But it was all fundraising for his part anyway, so he didn't care so long as someone liked it.
His hair was also a little wild, since he'd run his hands through it more than once as he tried not to be driven crazy by this person or that. Now all he wanted to do was take ten minutes to grab a bite to eat and maybe look around a little himself before he got pulled into helping someone else out again.
ZJ had come to the fair with her family, it was her mother’s family so it was nothing but muggles for the eyes to see. It meant though that her wand was at home, safely hidden inside her suitcase. She didn’t want to be even slightly tempted to use it in front of any muggles.
She had been wandering around for a bit when she’d noticed the man that was bustling about. He seemed to be pulled in four different directions at one time. He also seemed a bit frustrated by all of it. She waited until everyone that had been pulling at him seemed to be busy, she had been standing across from where he was talking with someone. She swears it isn’t stalking since she had only been watching for a few minutes.
It was then though that ZJ took a bold move and stepped up to the man. She slipped her arm through his as if she knew him, looking up at him with a bright smile. “Come with me if you want to live, I heard these older women talking about asking you to help them unload. They want to watch what your muscles will do.”
He was startled to be grabbed by a person he didn't even vaguely recognize from previous fairs, the university, or walking through here for several hours today.
Her words, too, startled him, but he thought he remembered a movie with that line. And her next words made his gaze flick up and away from her, searching for said women.
"Well then, away with us!" he said, willing to be kidnapped by a complete stranger if it meant he didn't have to get pulled into yet one more thing for at least five freaking minutes. "So where am I being kidnapped to today, and by whom? Not the Dread Pirate Roberts, I hope." He'd seen the movie Princess Bride perhaps a few too many times.
ZJ gave a soft chuckle at his willingness to be kidnapped. She really had heard one of them, though it had been earlier when he'd been sent on his zillionth task. It was really safer this way. "Well, no unfortunately I've not become the Dread Pirate Roberts just yet, I am however Inigo Montoya. You killed my father, prepare to die." She even gave him a playful smirk, Princess Bride was one of her favorites. She had dressed up as The Princess Bride a few times for Halloween. She may not have been blonde but that never stopped her. There was one year however that she had gone blonde and been sure to dress up as the Princess for that Halloween. That had been juts after Hogwarts.
She led him away and around a corner, far enough that he wouldn't be asked to help with anything else. "My name is actually ZJ, by the way." She didn't usually give out her last name to muggles, not that it ever really mattered. Flume wasn't exactly a special last name by any means, but it was something her mother had taught her to do in the muggle world when they had been on the run from Voldemort. It was just safer that way. "I still may to kill you however, if you are actually the Dread Pirate Roberts."
"But I'm not the six finger ed man, I swear it!" He replied, holding up his (currently paint smudged but otherwise clean) hands in defense to prove ut. He'd stumbled on the movie quite by accident and been intrigued and charmed by it.
"I'm Kit. Nice to meet you, ZJ." The name didn't ring any immediate bells and he didn't expect it to either, not here in the muggle world.
"Not even if I promise I'm here to save you from the wicked prince Humberdink?" He cajoled.
ZJ's grin grew when he declared he wasn't the six fingered man. "You're awesome though." She told him with a laugh, nodding at his name. It meant nothing to her, though she wasn't from the area. She was visiting her cousins and any chance to chat up a hot, not married, man was always a good way to pass the time. She rather liked him already, he was funny too.
"It's nice to meet you too. I think, so long as you swear that you're here to save me from Prince Humberdink..." She let out a playful, dramatic sigh, that came complete with some hands on her hips. "That I won't kill you." She motioned however to his hands then, "Do you have things in the show?" She assumed at least from his hands, they were a bit smudged though she guessed that could have come from helping.
"Why thank you!" he said, quite pleased at the praise. And why not? He was fun to be around, generally.
"Oh, whew!" he said, swiping a hand over his brow in exaggerated relief. "Spared!" He winked at her. He shrugged and then nodded at her question though. "A few? Nothing particularly special because I'm rounding things up for an important show. Mostly it's just some sketches and small paintings and some off the cuff sculpture that isn't up to par for the show or a gallery that will help earn the university some money. Here in the muggle world, at least, he could be open about all of that.
ZJ just laughed, he really was a breath of fresh air. As much as she loved her family, it felt even better to be spending time away from them with someone that was normal. She loved her muggle side dearly but some of them could just be so dull. Especially the uncle she was visiting with today.
"You do?" She seemed to light up, "While you don't seem too excited about it, I'd love to see what you have in the show? My cousin has a few pieces in it as well." Which she hoped explained just why she was there. "What's the important show? Is it a bigger showing or will there be more important around?" There were two things that could make a show important, at least as far as ZJ figured.
He hesitated for a just a moment and reminded himself which of his lives he was in right now; it was hard to keep track, sometimes. Then he smiled warmly at her. "I've been working on my doctorate," he told her. "And part of that, for the art degree and all, is a big show of some of my best works."
He was proud, justifiably so, though this wasn't his first big show. He'd had his first successful one a couple of years ago and started really building a name for himself, so he wasn't doubting he'd do well. But there would always be a bit of nerves.
Kit led them down one row, taking a circuitous route back toward the booths from his university.
ZJ didn’t notice the hesitation, if she had she may have teased him asking if he knew who he was. “You are?” She sounded impressed, she could count the number of people she knew that had, and were working towards, their doctorate on one hand. “Where is, this big show going to be? I feel like I am being a bit gipped now, I get to see some of your good work sure but the best stuff is being held for this amazing epic show.”
She followed his path, honestly all the booths were blurring together. It was probably mostly due to the fact that she had not been watching what they were passing. “What’s your medium? For art that is? Mine is poetry.” Well, music but she had yet to start writing her own songs. She was still learning all of that, at least bit by bit.
"Here in London, at this gallery associated with the University." But not one that showed just anyone. His couple of prior successful shows had definitely rated him a better spot, so he was honestly a bit nervous about it all. "Well, if you really want to see it, it'll be nearer the end of the semester." He told her the name of the gallery and the proposed dates that he had at the moment. Why not? She probably wouldn't come, but she was asking.
"Mostly sculpture?" he said. "But I still do a lot of sketching and some painting. But I'm primarily sculpture." He paused and tilted his head, thinking, and then grinned somewhat slyly at her. "I sometimes paint cakes too, but that's an entirely different thing and I do it for a dear friend. So poetry, huh? Tell me about it."
ZJ nodded her head, that sounded interesting. She happened to live in London, so it would be close to home. When he gave her more details, she pulled her phone out so that she could write it all down and have it saved someplace so she wouldn’t forget. “It sounds interesting.” She gave him a warm smile, “I look forward to seeing it. I’ll have to bring a few friends along.” Maybe some that could pass a bit easier in the muggle realm than the others. She might ask Hannah and Megan to accompany her.
“You even paint cakes?” He sounded fantastic to ZJ, she wanted to see more of his work. There was something about painters that always had her itching to see more of their work. It was a medium of art that she had never been good at. She could draw sometimes, sketch a few things, but when it came to painting she was out of her depth. It made her all the more interested to see just what he had done.
“Poetry, I’m trying to parlay it into music writing.” Her cheeks may have gotten a bit pink then, but she was quick to dip her head and let her dark locks fall in her face to hide it. She was pretending to look at something as they passed. “I only recently started writing my own music with the help of a more musically inclined cousin. I was thinking of learning an instrument of my own though.. I think it’d make the writing process easier.” Though it had been fun to jam with Quin. She just wanted to be able to bring more to the table.
"If you feel like it. It's no big deal." Yeah, Kit, no big deal. Just your damn doctorate. That nobody but Logan really knows about. Yeah. No big deal. Sometimes he thought the better he got and the more satisfied with his work he was, the harder it was to keep it a secret. He was proud of it -- even if him telling peope would likely end up with him being disowned. Muggle world and art? Yeah.
"Only because my friend asks me too. It's a challenge! But one I really enjoy." Mel asking the first time had been so odd, but the challenge was one he hadn't been able to turn down. Now he did it more for fun than for the money she always insisted on paying him.
"Oh, wow, that would be cool, to get to hear something you wrote performed," he said. That shit wasn't easy either. Nothing performance wise was easy in his experience. "I bet you'll do stellar."
They reached the main booth some of his stuff was at. He'd contributed a lot of his small, odder sort of things. Most were fantastical even by magical standards, creatures a product of his imagination, mythology, and actuality. A few were disturbingly close to magical creatures, but nothing (mostly) you wouldn't find in mythology if you really looked for it. But the Pegasus with seagulls was based off a real thing, and thedragons were a bit off from real, for instance. He also had some sketches and paintings on the walls, some fantastical, some very realistic, of people, of things, of animals. Some risqué, some just normal everyday bits. Bits of all sorts of things he'd played with the last few years.
ZJ nodded her head, chuckling softly. "No big deal, just a univeristy showing." She teased him, while she might not know much about the ranking she had a feeling that university showing was a pretty big deal. They seemed like they might be hard to get into, at least she assumed. It was why it all sounded like a big deal to her. She would make a point of showing up. While she may not know him very well, how often did a hot man actually invite you to their showing. She was going to go.
"Thanks, how about we swap one day? You can make me a beautiful cake and I'll perform for you?" She didn't know just what that would mean, she would at least learn to play her own songs so that she could play for him. It seemed a fair trade off.
When he took her around to the main booth and showed her his things, her eyes grew wide. She was shocked to see that some of his creatures looked real, she had seen a few of these in the wizarding world. Had he been before and been oblivated? She had so many questions for the muggle but she wouldn't poke too closely at it all. She instead gave him a bright smile, trying to wipe that surprised look off her face. "They're gorgeous, you've got real talent." She looked at everything, looking over the people and animals. They really were good. "Where do you get your inspiration?"
"Well, my friend will have to bake the cake, but I will certainly paint it for you," he said with a quick and charming smile. "A small exchange, since I think I'll be getting more out of it, getting to watch such a lovely lady as yourself."
He lifted a shoulder. "Well, a bit from everywhere. NAture, some of these, like the owl made of plant life," he said. "But I did classical studies, mythology. It's the theme of my show, actually. Most notably Greek and Roman, of course, but I quite like Egypt and Celtic mythologies and I met the most fascinating woman who was from America -- Native American, one of the tribes, and some of my stuff has a bit from that too. I take a bit from all over. I'm terribly scattered and probably terribly disrespectful," he said, hands moving a bit as he talked.
His smile was something else, he was like a damn model. Without thinking, she blurted out. “You’re fuckin’ photoshopped.” She only knew about the program because of a cousin, he worked as a wedding photographer and she had worked as his gopher for a summer. It had been the worst job, she had only lasted an entire week because the brides were terrible and her cousin was an asshole.
She shook her head, laughing nervously and smiling. “Sorry, I’m going to have to see some of these cakes though. Do you have any pictures of them?” She was curious to see these cakes because his sculptures and things were just amazing and beautiful. She had to imagine the cakes were fantastic as well.
“You did mythologies for your show?” She sounded impressed, she had always been interested in the field but never did much digging on the subject. What she knew, she had gleamed from classes long since over. “When did you get into it all? What sort of inspired it all?”
She surprised him, saying that. He of course knew all about photoshop, though he never used it himself. Didn't like it. It was definitely not his medium. But the compliment was obvious to him. "Nope, promise, all real. Work very hard for it too," he quipped with easy charm once he recovered.
"I don't think I do but next time I do one, I'll take a picture," he told her. "Usually it's a copy of some painting or some specific scene someone wants. Usually a wedding or some special occasion. I once helped her sculpt one as well. Doing it with edible materials is so different."
He smiled, dragging a finger down the back of a dragon gently. "It's one of the first things to catch my eye in history class. The stories, you know? The grand legends. Heros and monsters and beasts. I nearly failed history several times, but I was always loved those sorts of things. SO now that I'm following what I want to do, I ... gravitated that way."
It was more complicated than that, but as a beginning explanation it worked.
“Why?” ZJ’s filter apparently had stayed back in London, she would have to be sure to pick it back up when she got home. She chuckled softly, “I’m sorry, that’s rude. You just look like you jumped off the page of an advertisement, it’s crazy. Your smile is probably the closest to perfect I’ve ever seen. It’s ridiculous, I’m sure you hear that far too often though. I’ll shut up.” She rolled her eyes at herself, laughing nervously. He was just too pretty, she had to remember to not mention it again.
“I’ll make sure to give you my number before I leave, that way you can send me pictures of these cakes.” It was an excuse to slip her number to the pretty artist, she wouldn’t lie. She did however really want to see these cakes. They sounded fantastic. “Have you seen those cakes that are huge castles? I believe they are wedding cakes, I absolutely love them.” Mostly because they reminded her of her time at Hogwarts.
The way he touched his sculptures spoke of love, her smile grew as she watched him pet the dragon. “That’s really cool..” She wished she could show the muggle that some of these things really did exist. Not only that though, he was so close to what they actually looked like. Some were spot on! “I really love them… What is the biggest creature you’ve created?”
Because he wasn't used to it in this world, and he tended to shrug it off especially from students, it made him blush faintly, just a little self conscious. "That might be because I've paid for school by modeling," he admitted. "It's very lucrative if you do it right." Of course it was primarily in the wizarding world though models crossed worlds pretty easily. "So don't apologize. Mostly it's just the luck of genetics and taking care of myself."
His smile was quick, genuine, charming. "You do that," he said. Number of a pretty girl? Sure. He might or might not follow up on it. But it was always flattering. "Those are always fantastic. There are some strangely fascinating cakes out there. I like to look at them when my friend asks for help so I can help with ideas."
He hummed and considered he'd question. "Not sure. Maybe a dragon? There is the winged horse though."
ZJ’s eyes grew wide, he was actually a model! She gave a soft laugh, “Oh, damn. I am sorry, I shouldn’t have just blurted that out. I’ll keep future comments to myself.” She shook her head again, laughing once more. “It’s just… It’s cool though, that yeah you have to work to be sure you look pretty but you’ve got this whole side world of art. Do you use it to help fuel the passion?” She motioned towards the dragons, they really did look so close to what was flying around Tim’s sanctuary. It was crazy.
That smile was going to kill her, she just hoped she got used to it if they became friends. “What are some of your favorites? I love the cartoon ones too, it boggles my mind some of the things these people can do with just baking supplies. I sort of want to you to need to do a dragon cake.” She admitted, reaching out to very (extremely, barely touching) run a finger of the head of one of the dragon’s that looked a bit like the alpha at Tim’s sanctuary. “Like this one, I think it’d be a fantastic cake.” And in the magical realm, they could probably find a way to make it breathe fire! She would have to mention it to Quin for Tim’s next birthday.
“How big is the winged horse?” She knew she was probably piling too many questions on but it was interesting. She rarely met someone who worked with a medium like he did. He not only sculpted but he also played with cakes and all sorts of things.
"No, please, my ego really enjoys your comments, please blurt them out whenever you feel like it," he said, half teasing. "Actually, it helped inspire me to pursue this? I was modeling and sketching people and someone suggested I go take a few classes." He'd been really good for having no formal training beyond what a tutor had once told him, and what he'd looked up on his own.
"Being around some amazingly attractive people never hurts though. And most of them don't mind being drawn at all." And he'd used several of his friends as models before.
"Oh my friend does most of the cake stuff but I try to help sometimes. It's such a challenge using only edible things or such. So different, and knowing it'll be eaten and not there forever." A transient sort of art form but he enjoyed it nonetheless.
"I did a mermaid cake once. But I think I could do it even better now."
He hummed and thought. "About the size of a pony?" He said, lifting his hand just so high. "The center of the next exhibit is bigger but it's not an animal." No, it was a tree. Much like the whompingwillow, in fact, inspired by something he'd seen when healing people during that battle. He'd never forgotten it.
ZJ gave a playful eye roll, the same one she tended to give Kev when he hit on her. “I’m sure your ego needs the compliments,” She had a feeling that his ego did just fine on it’s own. He was a damn model, that had to do wonders for his ego and confidence. It was interesting how he had fallen into it though. “You sound like one of those ridiculously lucky people,” She had to stop herself from making a joke about if he had used a Felix Felicis potion in order to get that job. Muggles wouldn’t get the reference.
“I think it’d be flattering to be drawn by someone, it’s a lost art. Even if it was just a copy of a picture of me or something that someone drew. I always wanted to be drawn like one of those 1920’s sultry models, the ones that lay out on a chaise lounge..” She gave a shrug, “It isn’t something I’m actively looking for. I think it’d be neat though if the opportunity came up.”
“A mermaid cake? I’d love to see that..” ZJ’s eyes grew wider though when he mentioned how big the other projects were and she gave a laugh. “Oh that’ll be neat to see! What is it?” She asked curiously, if it wasn’t an animal she wondered if it was a human or something. She knew her time was running out of time before her cousin would be coming to find her, she’d have to say goodbye to him soon.
"Well of course it does, how else is it supposed to survive in this cruel world," he said, giving her a playful wink. "Eh, not so much lucky as I've done my best to capitalize on all the opportunities that have come my way." Which was a very slytherin outlook, not that she'd know what that was. "My parents wouldn't approve of art. They barely approve of modeling. So I just ended up financing myself, so to speak. Needs must and all that. I'm just lucky that I enjoy both things most of the time."
He looked at her over the table consideringly. He wondered if he was going to get slapped if he offered. "Do you want me to draw you like one of my French girls?" he asked, deliberately quoting a movie (titantic this time) and waggling his eyebrows. "I promise, I'll be a professional, I'm not perving on you." Not completely. She was attractive. But he didn't know her well enough to feel anything other than a true and genuine appreciation of her beauty yet. "If you ever decide you want it done, call me. We'll talk."
He hesitated and then said. "It's a tree, with people behind it. All sorts of things dangling on it. It's... something of a commentary on war, I suppose, if you choose to take it that way. It reminds me of some things I saw, when I visited a couple of warzones." Which included Hogwarts as well as something he'd inadvertently seen on the continent.
ZJ was shocked at what a Slytherin answer that was. She would have teased the other man that he sounded like one if he would have had any clue. She just gave a chuckle, shaking her head a bit and smiling a bit wider. “That’s probably the best way to go about things. I don’t think I’ve ever looked at things that way. My father owns his own candy shops in London, I work as his manager.. I don’t think I’ve really taken any great leaps or capitalized on any situations. I tend to not notice when it is a situation that I could have used to my advantage. I’m actually trying to learn to network? I want to form a band… At some point.” She said with a slight shrug of her shoulders.
When he actually asked the question, she very unlady like snorted in laughter. “Are you serious?” She asked with a chuckle, shaking her head as she reached a hand up to touch her septum piercing. She tended to wear it flipped up inside her nose, she was making sure it hadn’t come loose while laughing at him. She shook her head though, smiling a bit wider. “I will keep in mind though, once maybe I know you a little better. You might swear you’re not a perv but you never know these days.” Just because he was hot didn’t mean she needed to be getting naked around him quickly. She knew Quin would have had a heart attack that she was even talking about getting naked with someone at some point.
While ZJ had not been there for the battle, his description had somehow put an image in her mind’s eye of a tree on the grounds of Hogwarts with people injured all around and behind it. She had to shake her head, she wasn’t there so she didn’t have the haunting images her friends had. “I hear that stuff can be haunting, especially to visit even years later..” She had gone back to Hogwarts to finish her schooling and it had been so haunting to be there. It was a feeling that she hadn’t felt when she had gone back during the winter for the ball, she had been relieved for that.
"No risk, no gain, darling," he told her. "Even if you fall reaching for the stars, you might still attain the moon, right?" Still a very Slytherin attitude, one that came more naturally to him than some things. "Oh, that's nice, and networking is much the same. It's whom you know more than anything else, really."
He flashed her an easy smile, not taking offense. "No worries. I can provide references. I promise, you're safer modeling for me than you would be pretty much anywhere else." He was the safe guy, which sometimes really backfired on him. He hesitated, then he pulled his sketchbook out from under the back table, where one of the university students watched the money. He flipped it open and offered it to her if she wanted to look through it. There were some quick, unfinished sketches near the front from a photo shoot he'd been on a few weeks ago, some nudes or half nudes, one of a friend laughing mid-clothes-change that he especially liked. None of them were skeevy or lustful, really, just quick snatches of people.
"IT can be. But sometimes things need to be remembered," he said with a little half shrug. "And sometimes it helps to get them out of your mind."
ZJ's nose wrinkled up at his words, laughing and just shaking her head. "Maybe. I won't say you're right, I don't need it to go to your head." She was teasing though, his head wasn't large at all. She could tell from the way he carried himself. He might make the jokes and things but he wasn't serious, at least she hoped he wasn't. She could be completely wrong at reading people, but she would give him the benefit of the doubt.
When he handed over the book, she couldn't help but shuffle through the few pages that he had opened her up to. Her eyebrows perked, her smile only growing. It was probably better than any reference he could have given her. She was quiet a moment as he spoke, still looking over the pictures. "So, I think I want you to draw me.. Just, whatever you want? Not what I want?" She wanted to see what he came up with, if he never got inspired by her face? Well.. she would live. She would have at least brushed with the chance with a fantastic artist. "What do you want to do with it all though? I mean, do you want to be known as the most creative and ingenious artist of the age or are you going for more loftier aspirations?"
"That's right, keep me humble. I need the lessons," he said with an easy laugh, obviously not offended at all. He had an airy, easy sort of charm.
"Nah, it'd be what you want. Those are just what I do for fun on the spur of the moment. Or work on for a specific purpose. My finished stuff isn't in there right now. Just my mobile stuff. "I mean, I always have thoughts, though for something more boudoir I prefer to get to know someone a bit better first before I make a suggestion that can get me slapped." He smiled and gave her a little wink.
"Eh. I want my stuff out there. I want it seen. I want it enjoyed. Do I want it bought? Hell yeah. Do I want to be some pompous stuffed shirt full of himself over his work? Never. It's what I love and I want it to stay that way."
ZJ felt comfortable with him. He could take a joke and didn’t seem to take it to heart. He was just easy to talk to. She could easily see them being friends, she wished she could share some of her candy with him. She knew the rules though, no exposing muggles to magic. She thought he might like the candy though, at least the ones that were more magical and amusing.
“If I inspire you, I’d love to be your subject. Even if it’s just a dragon eating me.” She teased, though she would rather not see that. It was already a bit of a fear of her’s with her cousin owning his sanctuary. She was closer to dragons than she had ever dreamed to be.
Hearing the way he talked about his art was like listening to her talk about her music, her face lit up and she nodded her head. “I know the feeling, promise. I’ve been dabbling in music, and it’s the same feeling I have. I want people to love my music, buy it, all that… I just don’t want to be one of those jerks that doesn’t care about the music, or the people it’s affecting, anymore. I don’t want to ever lose touch, if I ever become a big deal.” She tried not to worry too much about it though, the whole success thing. She was enjoying making music with Quin and if nothing else came of it, she would still be happy.
Kit tended to have an easy, breezy charm. It was still, in a lot of ways, a cover for his more introverted side, but it was a natural one at this point in his life.
"No, no dragon eating. More like a siren or something of the sort? With you being interested in music. Or there's other musically inclined magical things. I would just have to let my pencil take me away. Maybe look up some other things, to make the connection right." Or make something up completely. He'd done it before, he would do it again. Sometimes it was best that way.
"The day it becomes only a job, I don't want it anymore," he confessed. "I mean, sometimes it's work, no lie. There's tedium and hard spots, and all. But it's still worth it in the end."
ZJ smiled, nodding her head at his words. She had never been someone’s model for something before. It sounded interesting, especially if she wouldn’t have to be getting nude. She would leave it completely up to him and what he was wanting to draw. She nodded her head, “That sounds really neat. I’d love to see what you come up.”
Though as she was about to agree that the day music became a chore, she would quit, her cousin came bopping up. It was her mother’s side of the family that had all the dark looks, the younger woman had the same hair and nose as ZJ. Her bright eyes had come from her father’s side. ZJ smiled at her cousin when the younger woman rudely interrupted them to inform ZJ that the family was about to be heading out. She waved off her cousin, who was clearly making eyes at Kit in the way that said she was trying to get her cousin to tell her if she was flirting with him or what was going on.
A moment later saw her cousin walking away, glancing over her shoulder at Kit as she went. “Please ignore her? She has no tact, apparently.” ZJ shook her head, laughing off the entire thing. “I do have to go though. I think I gave you my number already, right?” She asked, already moving to pat her pockets for a pen. She was going to be sure he had her number, just in case he was serious about following up with her about modeling for him, the cakes, and all the things. She was always game for networking and making more friends.
Kit took it all in stride when they were interrupted, simply smiling at the young woman in a somewhat charming manner, though not quite as openly as he'd been with ZJ about music and art. No use alienating anyone, a smile didn't cost him anything.
"Don't worry, I understand. It's fine. You did, and I'll text you in a minute so you'll have mine, I promise." He tended to keep his phone in his pocket when talking unless he was showing someone something. "If I don't, feel free to come back and hunt me down, I'll be here the rest of the day being the muscle or something. The uni has me down to babysit all day."
He really was far too nice. ZJ waved at Kit, biting her lower lip as she turned and walked off after her cousin. She had even had to jog to keep up with her. She wondered if he really would be texting her later, you never knew honestly. She knew it was silly, she knew he was a muggle, but she had enjoyed seeing his art. He had some real talent. She was hoping to be able to make it to his next showing, it had sounded wonderful.
