Re: Draco + Daphne
A part of her couldn't help but wonder why he was doing this, trying to make her feel better. She'd known about this for, what, a month now? How on earth was one supposed to stop caring about everything simply... coming to an end? She'd shared her secret with him because he's shared his own, but... she hadn't expected him to try and ameliorate how she was feeling. It just seemed like he deserved to know.
But then-- why? Why did he deserve to know when no one else did? So far, aside from her, only Draco, Astoria, Tracey, and Alicia knew about her now, and the latter had been out of necessity. Whether she'd told Adrian didn't particularly matter; if there was anyone she knew she could trust, it was one of their own. Slytherins tended to stick together.
Still, what made him special? He'd already gotten her started on this new trend of hers, sleeping with the same person more than once, and now there was this... it was as if her fear of dying was rapidly changing not only her anticipated lifespan, but her behavior, as well. It-- he-- was disquieting. And not for the reasons he might have assumed.
"You can't tell anyone," she finally whispered, shaking her head. "You're one of four people who knows outside of me. Maybe five. So I'm trusting you with this." Sighing at the feeling of his touch, Daphne let her eyes close. She hadn't expected him to spin her, but he managed to execute it flawlessly regardless, Daphne offering him a small smile in return. "I'm sorry I'm being so maudlin. I just thought it seemed like a fair trade. Now you know my secret, too."
